(Pasadena) – Amon Milliner ran for 239 yards and three touchdowns to lead La Salle to a 44-6 rout of Muir Friday night at Kohorst Field.

Milliner ran over the Mustangs all night long and needed just 20 carries to do all of that damage. Milliner scored on runs of 20 and 55 yards in the first quarter and then got loose for a 28-yard score to open the second half and put the Lancers up 35-0. The game was over by halftime but La Salle added a pair of scores and a safety in the third quarter to go up  44-0 and provide a running clock in the fourth quarter.

The safety summed up the La Salle defense for the evening. The Lancers chased down Muir quarterbacks all night long with five sacks and numerous pressures. Muir was never able to get on track through out the contest. They finally managed a late score when Elijah Baldes hauled in a 61-yard touchdown pass with 43 seconds remaining.

The Lancer D set the tone for Milliner’s heroics later. In the first quarter defensive lineman Andres Garcia picked off a short pass and rumbled 10 yards for a score for a 6-0 La Salle lead.

On the next two Lancer possessions Milliner did his thing from 20 and 55 to make it 21-0. In the second quarter Harrison MacDonald was on the receiving end of a 30 yard touchdown strike from Jake Caan (yes he’s related to actor James Caan) and it was 28-0.

After Milliner scored again to start the third quarter, Caan and MacDonald hooked up again for a 51-yard score and with 3:11 left in the third and it was 42-zip and over and out.

While Milliner racked up a majority of the yards for the La Salle offense, MacDonald caught three passes for 90 yards and Caan threw for 103 yards and two scores.

Blades’ score for the Mustangs was the only real highlight for Muir in an otherwise drab offense.

With the win, La Salle improved to 3-1 while Muir dropped to 2-1.
