LC and TC preparing to battle for board
(Temple City) – La Canada jumped out to a 13-5 first quarter lead and never looked back in a 62-45 win over Temple City Thursday night in the regular season finale. With the victory, the Spartans wrapped up the Rio Hondo title with a 9-1 record and finished 21-5 overall.
The Rams were down 44-28 after three before coming alive in the fourth quarter with 17 points. But La Canada had its biggest quarter of the night as well with 18 to keep TC at bay.
Matt Valazza led Temple City with 14 points and Harriman Chang added 9 including 2 from beyond the three point line. Nick Der chipped in 7.
The Rams finished 6-4 in league which could be good enough for second place in the Rio and a spot in the playoffs. They were 11-9 on the year.
The CIF playoff pairings will be announced Sunday.
