The only remedy is to add more more divisions. I’d go one further and put more emphasis on the releaguing process! Group teams every 4 years in Leagues within the division they are in and try to do it where geography isn’t to big of a detriment.

Lets not be so quick to look down our noses at D13 D12 and lower division efforts. There are 84 teams in D13 so some 8-2 teams still may not get one of the 16 playoff spots. To me it is very interesting to watch these teams play there hearts out. There efforts do not go unnoticed and they are happily not under reported on this site at least. In D1 thru D5 they have 18 teams, everybody gets in but 2. Where’s the fun in that? In D13 68 teams don’t get in. Its a huge struggle for these teams to go dancing. And a state run like Arroyo had last year in the 44 team D12. That’s GREAT!!

Relax… division 12. Beat 2 subpar teams. We have alot of work to do. Let’s work at a league title, than make a ton in playoffs. Good start. Beat 2 teams we should have. Good job OC and DC… Keep it up.

You can stick to your opinion, too. Just let the season play out, and we’ll see who’s right.
Opposing defenders who ignore South El Monte quarterback Daniel Olmos will be doing so at their own peril; he looked like a decent dual threat as a runner and passer. (Olmos still needs work as a passer, but at least the Eagles are throwing the ball more.)
South El Monte also has a placekicker named Gaspar Beltran who might help win a game or two. He booted a 33-yard field goal and was 3/3 on PAT’s in the opener at Alhambra. Not a bad way to start.
Oh, by the way, that “horrible” defense of South El Monte’s just recorded a shutout against La Puente. Many of us know that La Puente’s football team has been down for a few seasons, but it looks like the Eagles are making progress on “D.”
Frank Gallardo and his staff must be doing something right, in view of the fact that the Eagles have gone 13-2 since the beginning of last season.
    Have a nice weekend, sir.

Like I said, South El Monte has a good team. The Arroyo Knights are going to have their hands full against SEM this season, barring any key injuries for the Eagles.

St.Paul definitely overrated. Just look at them.

LM is facing big dawgs they’ll most likely run through league unless Norwalk has something to say about it.

La Serbs is always gonna be a top 5 team in the division, idk how they do it.

I believe Norwalk is really underrated they have a group of seniors that went 9-1 as freshmen only loss to Bosco in a close game. Four of those seniors are four year varsity guys.

South might be a bit overrated but then again with Mooney on staff they could just be getting started.

Schurr is overrated, just don’t see it in them to make a run at anything they lose two Bello by at least two scores and maybe a second round stop.

Yes, options abound for parking at Cathedral: you can leave your wheels on Broadway, and then pay for new wheels after your ride gets stripped or ripped by neighborhood dismantlers, or you can leave your ride with the parking attendant down the street for a mere $20 per minute, then perform a virtual Bataan Death March walking to and from Phantom land in today’s heat. Special thanks to Angelis for the tips.

Don’t think any less of RZ, back when he was at the ranch 11 players would show up to practice then on Friday the ones who didn’t show up played the whole game. Many publications the WDN etc were fooled by their Semi appearance which only happened because of the new CIF playoff rules otherwise it would have been a decade with no playoffs. The best kid at SP isn’t getting the rock because he’s Mexican. All you Whittier, Pico, Montebello, Norwalk etc kids keep being fools and paying so much money for that s**thole, Correction all your parents are the fools you just do what they tell you.

Last year El Rancho beat us 67-12. This year we had them 20-7 and if we don’t give them a hail mary touchdown in the final seconds of the first half I believe we win this game easily. That TD gave El Rancho the light at the end of the tunnel and they ran thru it. We have another tough game against Norwalk but we are clearly better.

For those who just read commenter Angelis bubbling over about Texas A&M practicing on Cathedral’s field, you won’t have much luck trying to go watch. You see, when you drive your car anywhere in SoCal, your destination has to have a place to park your wheels, and Cathedral has MAYBE 20 spaces, not counting the theft and vandalism zone on Broadway.

Montebello beat St Paulie girls. WOW!!!!!! Hey just my opinion when you walk on to another field and disrespect (or try) to disprespect the
other program with your silly antics, YOU HAVE TO WIN!!! Coach remember you are playing Montebello, there is nothing to be proud of that fact. St Paul was playing the likes of LB Poly, Rancho, Amat ETC… so before you pound your chest and act like your doing something special you must take a bite of the humble pie served by your buddy Pete and those Montebello Oilers! Gotta love it….oh and coach your false humility is noticeable from the top row. Attitude is a reflection from YOUR leadership.

Congrats to Coach Pete and his team!

The game wasn’t as close as the score indicated. Total control from the very beginning. Two late scores by StPaul and this is a blowout. SP came to our field and acted like they owned it. Nope! They got smashed in the mouth!! I think the coach has zero control over the kids. Not the SP of old . Lots of quitting and arguing amongst each other.
Montebello just moved ahead of SP in the football category. Great job MHS…

I’m not a football dad I’m just a high school football guy who goes to a lot of the El Rancho games (graduated from the Ranch many years ago). I just want to say a few things about the ER vs. BG game, you can see El Rancho is headed in the correct direction, good adjustments and the kids never quit. Second, if you went to the game last year (I don’t remember the score but it was ugly) and went last night, I don’t know what Beltran and his staff has done over the off season but Holly cow. Bell Gardens you got yourself the right man and staff, you might not have won the game but you are going to win a lot of games in the near future. Bell Gardens is going to be scary if they stay the course.

ER down 20-7 late in the 1st half with Bell Gardens just flat out out playing the Dons on both sides of the ball. The Dons were toast. At half time the Dons stayed at the Southern end zone while the coaches huddled. Something happened because the Dons started at last to move the ball. There were plays being made all around but the inside running of Marcos Weeks loosened things up allowing Don receivers to open up. Big ups to coach Beltran. Bell Gardens came to play and wound up just a little short
