Northview Manhandles Baldwin Park, 56-0

Northview’s Damion Thompson had three interceptions including a pick six and also caught a pass for a score.

(Baldwin Park)—The Northview Vikings opened Valle Vista league play in dominating fashion Friday evening, as they defeated the host Baldwin Park Braves, 56-0.

Northview wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. Senior Jared Paredes returned the game’s opening kickoff 80-yards for a touchdown. This made the score, 7-0, Northview only 14 seconds into the contest.

Vikings’ quarterback Steven Comstock had a stellar outing, completing 7 of 8 passes for 173 yards and five touchdowns…in only one half of work. Comstock connected with Damion Thompson (32-yards), Jimmy Amezquita (17 and 85-yards), Santos Cuen (12-yards), and Martin Gutierez (10-yards). The Vikings also scored on the ground, as Joseph Castillo, Jr. scored on a 7-yard touchdown run. Brian Calderon successfully manned the kicking game by converting all eight of his PAT attempts.

Northview dominated defensively as well, recording a total of five takeaways. In addition to catching a scoring pass, Thompson recorded three interceptions and returned his last pick 93-yards to paydirt. Also contributing to the turnover total was outside linebacker, Santos Cuen who intercepted a pass. Outside linebacker, David Barela recovered a Baldwin Park fumble.

Northview’s next contest is scheduled for 10/13/17. The Vikings will play the Covina Colts at Covina District Field. Also on 10/13/17, Baldwin Park will host the Wilson Wildcats. Kickoff for both games is scheduled for 7:00 PM.

    This Young Man and the rest of the team are great players. Not only can they play they have to have great discipline from home to listen to there coach and play with enthusiasm the way they do.
