With the second round brackets now set we compiled our Top 18 with the local playoff teams still alive. We also included Paraclete to even things out. Here are the rankings of the 18 teams still standing:

2. Charter Oak (11-0) – Chargers show no mercy on Crespi.
3. Paraclete (10-1) – How good are the Spirits?
4. St. Francis (10-1) – Golden Knights survive La Serna scare.
5. South Hills (9-1) – Huskies come alive in second half.
6. Arroyo (11-0) – Knights get Rancho Mirage rematch.
7. Downey (9-2) -Vikes eliminate Etiwanda; Corona Del Mar next.
8. Mayfair (10-1) – Monsoons cruise by Chaffey in first round.
9. Burbank (9-2) – Bulldogs get good local matchup with South Hills.
10. Glendora (8-3) – Tartans too much for Santiago.
11. Diamond Ranch (8-3) – Panthers are home against El Modena.
12. Schurr (10-1) – “It’s getting better all the time…better! better! better!”
13. Covina (9-2) – Colts get the spotlight on Thursday night.
14. Arcadia (8-3) – Apaches have won five straight down the stretch.
15. South El Monte (10-1) – Eagles get another shot at Rancho Christian.
16. San Marino (8-2) – Titans get the long bus ride to Bishop Diego.
17. Montebello (7-4) – Oilers advance but now get Apple Valley.
18. Nogales (10-1) – A very noble season for Nogales.

@cardinal pride…el rancho has great kids and great famies! I have many close friends and so does my son. I think El rancho is great. Medrano is not a motivator but tear down kids. Not a fan personally but el rancho has enormous talent. I think all the girls in the touchdown club throw a monkeywrench in the program. Medrano does not mesh with the tough pico kids period.I think rich is a stud and the rest of the boys! Next year will be great. Good things ahead for the ranch!
Cantwell is moving in the right direction but must, I repeat MUST recruit some athletes. They are good and have a great QB & RB coming back next year. IF the kid can get some additional support, watch out (BIG IF).
ER… Poor ER. Everyone outside of Pico knows that ER is the the Minor league team to St. Paul (which sucks because SP sucks too) and Amat. Medrano is doing a good job with what he has, but the talent isn’t there. ER will never recruit because they don’t feel they have too, which is dumb. They are stuck in the “we will win with what we have” mentality. SMH.

I believe The Ranch is going in the right direction. I would like to say good luck next year and we look forward to a hard fought game when we meet in week 5 or 6 of next year I believe. Cantwell should have their best team in years and we look forward to what we are building. Either way good luck to The Ranch in the off season and next season.
@theranch18. .Yhea because Ramos,jude and Elias can’t work together and schurr is in shambles! It’s because they work great together is the reason why schurr is doing so well DELETED! Cantwell loved there coach and the kids and parents are happy. They even made the playoffs and added a student section with great support from the administration, the starting an went down with an injury but there doing all kinds of good things there as well. There is a saying…”it is better to be thought dumb and remain silent then to open your mouth and remove all doubt.” Just wear your little blue sweater that say’s dons and stay listening to the “touchdown club”. Arroyo is rated a 31 on Calpreps.com. Downey is rated a 42 on Calpreps. When you project the match up it has Downey beating Arroyo 41-17. I get that Arroyo won their division last year and are currently unbeaten. However, there is no way Arroyo would hang with Downey. The highest rated team Arroyo has played this year is Schurr, which is a 25. Schurr barely beat Whittier and Montebello, which doesn’t say much. Im not trying to knock Arroyo. I believe they are doing what they are supposed to do in the divisions they have been placed in. A few more winning seasons and then they will get the type of players Downey has.

as for what we got going on at the ranch… did you even see a game this year?
if you did , you would be able to notice how MEDRANO called the right plays and the players couldnt execute… by either droping open balls, under/over throwing balls, bad reads, too slow, … dude check yourself… we have all the kids buying in to the program right now… dont try and ruin what we got.
this year SENIORS QUIT! when la serna walked on the feild! not all of them, but alot of them… and enough to hurt the team.
I think all the old Spartans are very happy about the team and their success. Maybe you should ask them you seem to know who they are. Because we you know who you are making comments. Focus on the game and enjoy this. You are winning and you sound bitter. That is a fact right there.
