1. The Milwaukee Brewers sign free agent outfielder Lorenzo Cain to a five-year, $80 million deal.
2. West Covina High School will have a brand new stadium, lights and scoreboard in place for the 2018 season.
3. St. Francis WR Greg Dulcich has received an offer from the University of San Diego.
4. Pasadena, which lost to Crescenta Valley 65-60 in the Pacific League opener, beat the Falcons 83-45 Tuesday night.
5. In a separate deal the Brewers acquire outfielder Christian Yelich from the Miami Marlins for four minor leaguers.
6. Chipper Jones, Vladimir Guerrero, Trevor Hoffman and Jim Thome are elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame by the writers joining Jack Morris and Alan Trammell who were elected by the Modern Era committee in December.
7. WWE Founder Vince McMahon announces that the XFL will return in January 2020.
8. Former Azusa Pacific RB Terrell Watson signed with the New York Giants. Watson, who signed with the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted rookie in 2015, has also spent time with the Browns, Broncos, Steelers and Eagles.
9. On this day in 1986 the Chicago Bears beat the New England Patriots 46-10 in Super Bowl XX. Richard Dent is named MVP.
10. 20 year NBA veteran and current Sacramento King guard Vince Carter turns 41 today.
Bogan to Bonita. Will his recruiting track record work in La Verne???
Area newspaper survivor Freddie Robledo is reporting that Bonita has selected Steve Bogan to coach its football program, pending board approval. It remains to be seen if athletic director Podley chose wisely, or if the ravages of time have eroded this once-solid coach’s abilities.
