High School Softball Area Top 20

Most of the Top 20 remained unchanged as the schools had their Spring Break.  Some teams did find their way up, while some dropped down after lackluster performances.

Schurr and San Dimas return to the Top 20 and Los Altos and Maranatha head out after going 0 for the week in wins.

  1. Bonita (12-1-1) – Hopefully Bearcats aren’t rusty when they begin Charger Tournament.
  2. Glendora (9-2) – Could meet top-ranked Bonita in Charter Oak Tournament.
  3. La Canada (11-2) – Lauren O’Leary strikes out 16, Anna Edwards goes 5 for 9 in twin-bill against Maranatha.
  4. Arroyo (11-1) – Knights must continue to focus on Division VI title run.
  5. Village Christian (10-1) – Crusaders working on 26 straight shutout innings.
  6. La Salle (9-3) – Lancers have cross-town rivalry with Arcadia slated on Friday.
  7. South Hills (11-3-1) – Big four games this week with two against West Covina and Charter Oak Tournament.
  8. San Marino (10-4) – Titans have strong pitching with Michelle Floyd in the circle.
  9. Monrovia (9-3) – Wildcats continue to hit the ball well and now starting to get some good pitching.
  10. Covina (10-3) – Colts stumbled against Santa Fe, but continue to dominate Valle Vista lower half.
  11. West Covina (10-5) – Bulldogs have a shot to control their San Antonio League destiny with sweep of South Hills.
  12. Burbank (9-4) – Bulldogs dropped rivalry game against “Flatlanders”.
  13. Whittier Christian (14-5) – Don’t look now, but Heralds have quietly won 10 straight.
  14. Northview (8-5) – Vikings continue to be a mystery with one good performance and then a throw in a clunker.
  15. Burroughs (6-4) – Indians take care of Bulldogs during last week to get the jump on Pacific league title.
  16. Schurr (9-6) – Spartans use their bats to send a message to rest of Almont League in upset win over Keppel.
  17. San Gabriel (8-4) – Matadors have a good shot at making a post-season appearance.
  18. Whittier (10-6) – Cardinals got much needed week off before Del Rio League.
  19. Keppel (5-1) – Aztecs now must run the table to win Almont.
  20. San Dimas (6-5) – Saints are now starting show signs of life in second half of season.

Out of the Top 20:  Los Altos (6-7) – Conquerors had dreams of championships before the season.  It has turned into a nightmare season.

Maranatha (7-9) – Getting swept by La Canada didn’t help their cause.  Alpha League should still be theirs to lose.
