These guys who are taking Cathedral to upset Amat risk nothing more than random punches on a keyboard. Make them lay serious cash on their picks and you’d see a different opinion.
I’m not a Cathedral fan. But it’s pretty noticible that things have changed for the better on Bishops Rd. Good for the CHS program. The Phantoms are against a giant of David and Goliath proportions.
Amat has all cards – tradition (all everything athletes and CIF titles), home field advantage, ego, another well promoted QB and a notable head coach and staff. Amat should have this one in the bag…. Or do they…?

There is a reason Bryce Young bailed on Cathedral, and in a word that reason is marketing. Those who are angry with the Phantom-bashers on this thread need to consider how their former quarterback voted with his feet.
2010 & 2011 Bishop Amat beat Cathedral 113-13 and both years phantom fans said they would beat the lancers with all the talent they had those years. Maybe they have something this year???

@anonymous. I never said anything about cathedral getting 30 transfers. You did. I said they steal kids from other schools. I just didn’t know it was 30. Thanks for clarifying that for us. And I don’t give fake news about cathedral. Everything I say has truth behind it. I have a lot of fun facts about your school and it’s alumni about how they go about kids transferring. When you host camps at your school and walk up to a kids and tell them that you will give them a free education to play at cathedral. It’s called stealing them. You arrogant fools are just to clouded by your big time wins over banning, and struggling Loyola. It’s awesome that you run downtown with chest all big and bad. It’s just to bad you don’t own your division. Can’t wait for the excuses to come in or the moral victory speech when Serra and Amat silence your spirits. To Annonymous. It’s you who spread lies and hatred about Cathedral and other schools on these posts. Cathedral does not let in 30 transfers like other schools. Cathedral does not steal players either. They come to get a Great Education for life after football. Cathedral is a stepping point for a lot of D1 College Coaches.
Yeah, Cathedral will probably lose to Amat (though I think it will be plenty respectable), but it’s nice to see Cathedral finally taking on some pretty good programs. Kudos to them for that.
(Even the Cathedral’s easy wins would have been unthinkable challenges for the Phantoms when I was in HS. What a shame to see the likes of Carson and Banning being cupcakes, not to mention the general decline in Los Angeles Section football.)
Cant reason with cathedral people. Every year is their year. Every year they are rolling until they hit the road block of teams they like to compare themselves to but are not at that level. Then comes the excuses and finger pointing. Then comes the fact that they get kids that they steal from other schools out to D 1 college. Then they like to point out catholic school kids are smarter than public school kids. Then everyone here are haters and jealous. Then they call everyone not cathedral fans idiots.

The Amat game is, to recall a famous movie title, A Bridge Too Far for the purple group. This is going to be the kind of thing that resembles the Downey -Santa Margarita meeting of a few weeks ago, albeit with not such an embarrassing point spread.
