Comica BG has 6 starters on offense coming back and 6 starters on defense coming back. Need to replace an athlete at QB and a stud at Running Back and another stud at Linebacker. I agree with you, you are about to see what Beltran can do BUILDING a program. 1st year: 2-8, 2nd year: 5-6 1st Round, 3rd year 7-5 Quarter Finals = 14 wins and 19 losses. Say what you want, Beltran built a pretty damn good program at La Serna and by the way it looks at Bell Gardens each year he has made gradual improvement. Year four should be one hell of a ride!

I am actually a Alhambra dad and saw what they did to our defense and that has stuck in my head ever since. Our defense was playing lights out and then gave up 40 something to Bell Gardens.

Hope all Lancer fans enjoyed this season…….that’s senior class played varsity as sophomores and took heir beating.
Came back as seniors and had a great season for themesleves and the program.
BG has no one coming back, nada! Well see how good Beltran and staff are this season. Current record at BG in 3 years, 13 wins and 19 losses!

You’ve lose your mind lol. If BG would have reached the CIF finals then yes. Perhaps you should consider Alhambra as the best 8-2. Even better MHS and SHS have been appeared in semis within the past 2 years yet there not mentioned around the area

I kept flipping on my opinion between Whittier and Bell Gardens. I gave the ups to Whittier due to their disappointment at missing the playoffs because Del Rio only given two entrants and the fact that they were only a play or two away from beating LA Serna. BG is without a doubt on the move. Sante Fe has a great demographic to draw from but they are definetly fading. Del Rio as a whole getting tougher. Next year will be a free for all.

I would add Bell Gardens to the list of Best in 2018, maybe as an Other. Winning a pice of the Almont League championship and winning the programs first CIF playoff game since 2003 is quite an accomplishment. I would add Santa Fe to the list of Most Disappointing in 2018, maybe as an Other. Went from Del Rio League champs to 1-9, that is a fast fall!

The tragedies being played-out at Los Altos and La Mirada are nature’s way of returning these programs to their natural state of mediocrity, back from the brief respite of coaching and recruiting magic that attended the regimes of Ziola and Moschetti. Of far greater concern is the collapse of Charter Oak. We are left to wonder if Big Lou Farrar’s health is up to the task of maintaining this football machine, or if perhaps the son is now in charge and lacks the drive and direction of papa. If true, it is a sad time for the Covina school.

Pretty spot on, I’m having a hard time putting ER as the #1 over SH because SH did win a CIF title, but in terms of expectations and predictions, ER was truly expected to win 1-2 games at most and ended up with its best season in maybe 30 years and did it by taking down teams that had no business in D10. The rest of those teams in your top 10 had good seasons, they had some fairly optimistic expectations because of what they returned plus their upward trajectory’s. For that reason I say Adrian Medrano should get the nod for coach of the year in the whittier area. Yes ER vs Knight is the greatest game I’ve ever witnessed.

@standings- Thank you for this. Actually well put together. Always enjoy when someone comes on here and adds something insightful. Regardless of someone agrees with it or not, pretty cool.

The disappointing season top 10 are correct so much so that a few coach will not be with those teams. Covina, Damien, Muir, and maybe CO will all have new coaches and teams that vastly under achieved Monrovia, La Mirada, and Los Altos all with coaches that are over their heads.

I can support the Roberts extension more than the Clay Helton extension. As SoCal says, the man got the team to the series two consecutive years. Helton appeared to be resting on his laurels this year, as if the USC program were on cruise control. Time to wake-up and drive the car my friend.

After reading countless pre-season predictions and viewing hundreds of hours of film these are the teams that had the best 2018 season in order: #1 El Rancho #2 South Hills #3 North View #4 Bonita #5 St. Paul #6 Glendora #7 Garey #8 Arcadia #9 El Monte #10 La Serna. Most disappointing 2018 season: #1 Charter Oak #2 Los Altos #3 Alhambra #4 Damien #5 St. Francis #6 Monrovia #7 Muir #8 La Mirada #9 Covina #10 Whittier. Best game of the year: El Rancho 56 Knight 52 quarter final. You have to see the tape. Crazy.

Well the Dodgers had to do what they needed to do. I don’t agree with it but Dave took them to two World Series and didn’t win either of them.
USC could go after Mike MaCarthy, I would. He can spend the next ten years building a power on the west coast and that would make the PAC 12 happy. I am not a USC guy, but when USC is doing well in football it make college football more fun.
