Sierra Canyon Shuts Down Upland

By MVS Staff

(Upland) – Defense was the order of the night but the Sierra Canyon offense did just enough to beat Upland 7-3 Saturday night in the State 1-A Playoffs.

All of the scoring came in the second quarter. Cameron Walker booted a 36-yard field goal to give Upland a 3-0 lead early in the quarter. With 8:27 left in the second Sierra Canyon’s Brendon Gamble took a shovel pass and scooted 11 yards into the endzone for a 7-3 advantage. It turned out to be the game winner as it was the last score of the night.

Upland, the CIF Division 2 champions, finished 13-2 overall. Sierra Canyon, 12-3, which won the Division 3 Championship, will wait the winner of the NoCal Regional to be played on December 8th. The final will take place on December 15 at Cerritos College.
