Thompson and Friday= agree completely=what good asst coaches would want to work with a head coach that does not like winning? He had a (I don’t know him; know what father did; know his background and coaching stats though) great coach….that is what they say…..and maybe Head coach could not take being around a coach that was much better than him. If I were a coach, I would keep the best I could get and love to win myself. but even much better is watching the kids win

    Thompson,
Dude, I’m laughing but I’m serious!!!
Frank knows the galactic mistake he made could end up costing him his cushy gig! I hear he’s been contacting league coaches trying to lure them lol. But he’s very quickly developed a very bad reputation. Coaches do not want to work for him which is why you guys will the freshmen staff promoted. Kids do not want to play for him. So good luck Eagles you’re gonna need it

I hope you’re genuine in your words because this isn’t a laughing matter. Some of the actions of our staff were mentioned on this blog, but most weren’t reported. Some of the things us parents are hearing is deplorable! ******* on campus, verbal attacks against each other! Challenges a fist fights? How about something so trivial as not taking the cheerleaders and band to the last game of the year? How about two coaches showing up for the banquet? How about last years banquet being at held at a separate location fully catered and by all accounts a very nice ceremony, well these kid remember last year and are wondering why the staff went all out for last years club and this years club got literally a kick in the butt out the door! We had multiple kids quit during the season and now we’re hearing about kids leaving our program…. WHY? There is a problem that needs addressing and fast! I’ve sent multiple emails to the principal the athletic director and have tried reaching out to Frank Gallardo himself all I got from him is talk to the administration! well I’ll be bringing all these issues up at the next board meeting! Maybe then we’ll have some accountability!

What Hall of Fame would that be ? The El Monte USD, the I’m to scared to schedule tougher opponents hall. Or maybe it’s the j dont hold my poll players accountable hall. And the only place that he is a legend 6in the 2 mile radius that surrounds the campus. Especially the burger joint on the corner.

You know and I know that South El Monte has the dumbest and laziest principal in the district. She has about 10 grievances filed against her. The teachers do not like her, do not like working for her, and that is the big reason we have so many off campus coaches. There are really good former football coaches on campus that will not coach at South El Monte but will coach else where. She doesn’t know the football situation and if she did she would not know what to do. If you think we are going to land a coach like the caliber of Mooney or Spathias back to South it is not going to happen. They have friends that still teach there and they know how the school is run. If you don’t have support by the administration in any school function let alone football you dead in the water.
We got a bigger problem than bad coaching on our campus. When that is fixed than maybe we will get a good coach to lead our boys.

Are you implying that Singiser is afraid of competition? Lol the man is a hall of fame coach and legend. You didn’t become great by being a coward. Dumbest comment all year!

  8. December 22, 2018 - 2:44 pm | Permalink

Poor South El Monte lol first Rich Melendez now freshmen coaches lol this pretty much confirms that Frank Gallardo is more concerned about being the smartest guy in the room rather than fielding the best staff. If Frank Gallardo is the smartest guy in your room, your room is dumb! Lol Mike Mooney will never return to SEM! They were too dumb to realize what they had. Btw what kid from SEM is coming to Arroyo? Hopefully it’s the #9 kid. Kids separating coaches from fighting lmfao this is classic!

I gotta agree with you. I just hope they look into why kids are transferring out. It think it’s a shame when the athletes have to be the Adults and not the coaches! If you take out the Mooney years out he’s only 6-13 with 8 of those loses being by 48 or more points. We weren’t just getting beat we getting humiliated. Then “coincidentally” we reach the final four with him on our sidelines. We want Mooney back!! Don’t forget he had a good Arcadia team on the cusp of winning CIF! We should still have his services the kids want him the parents want him and the school should want him back!

The MVL will continue to be a two horse race. The transfer express at El Monte and Arroyo. If the staff at El Monte stays and continues to bring in the transfers Jimmy will resign. He’ll see the writing on the wall and call it quits. He won’t play second fiddle to EM. Unless he and his staff recruit outside El Monte.

Those freshmen coaches were good O’Campo I believe his name is a real good coach. I think a little more experience and maybe a few years as assistant on var than OC would be good. But I don’t think they have hat long. What kids left?

No one is picketing, it just goes to show that they went from dumb (Steve Ramirez) to dumber (James escarcega). Medrano the people’s choice for coach of the year!

Not really, it was a team effort with little individual accolades, if anything Medrano should have been coach of the year for accomplishing what he did. He didn’t go out and hand pick 5-10 guys and he actually coached his kids up. Of course the WDN has to go with the better narrative and story and the one that will sell the most prints on Tuesday

I give 5 to 1; maybe 10 to 1 odds (no I don’t want to bet money) that SEM Administration will do zero if the football team does not make playoffs . Gallardo; yes he could not , I think…not know a damn thing…handle success/ could not take being around a great coach! Very bad for the players! Terrible for them! If I coached i want the best; maybe i learn from them. But he is 29-18 in 4 years; 16-5 in league; and 2 final four playoffs.

Those ER fans who want to picket the Whittier Daily would be shocked to find that there’s nobody inside that building to hear their protests. Yep, newspapers died about ten years ago, so let’s let them rest in peace.

That snub is really proof of what a great season they had. With a bunch of no names and a tiny QB and slow guys to boot they made the semis and competed and beat teams with D1 athletes. This suits ER fans just fine. Imagine ER with a few D1 types. Yikes.

    11. Breaking**** Bad news emanating from South El Monte. Two of our best playmakers are checking out of school and transferring to rival schools. One is headed to El Monte, the other headed to Arroyo. I believe these two are the first of more to come. These Athletes are fed up with the staff at SEM. One kid said “we would have to separate the coaches from arguing all the time” another kid said “ last years staff was a million times better than this year”. To me this falls on the lap of Frank Gallardo for hiring these guys. This is the consequence of firing greats and hiring fakes! Now, the kids also said Gallardo finally fired Rich Melendez but he should’ve never been here in the first place! Even after all the controversy over the summer, he should’ve been removed, before he embarrassed himself by pretending to be an OC. We’re all still waiting to hear why after the success did Frank feel the need to fire Mike Mooney? (Probably the most favorite coach and definitely the most knowledgeable) Why would he break up that staff? Those were well respected long time area coaches and outstanding community gentlemen. How many kids have to transfer out before the administration takes a look as to why kids are leaving? It’s embarrassing to have kids leave their wings and don a lion or a knight helmet! its even more embarrassing to hear why! You hear things like coaches sucked, coaches didn’t know what to do, coaches were always fighting with each other, coaches were always talking about my wolverines team could beat the varsity team here lol! Now I’m hearing the entire freshman staff will be promoted!! Come on! South El Monte deserves better. Frank Gallardo you better make a splash and hire a decent staff. If you can’t do it then SEM admin, should make their own splash! Catch my drift? Find a way to bring Mooney back or tempt Hector Spathias to leave Workman.
