Rush=yes I am with you; you labeled “quality coach”, but what if the new coach is not ‘quality”? It would not be better to hire the quality coach and he begins teaching next fall? BUT ==If a quality coach (scientifically based winner) is hired early and begins in class in fall, he still can coach team all second semester. May be extra driving, time taken to get out of one school and hurry to his new team, etc….but he will know that before he takes job.

Lebron money is all relative. He is worth every dime even resting and getting paid. Elvis and Michael Jackson are making more money today than they ever did.

What are you talking about. The sooner you name a coach the better. Ask any quality coach and he rather start before spring then during summer. There are only a few coaches with the ability to take a job after spring and be successful and they already have jobs. Most coaches need a couple of years to turn a program around. You are just making it harder the longer you wait.

What has Zamora done? He’s been a helluva nice guy, that’s what. That tact was good enough to keep Trudell in the saddle for five years, so I don’t see why Louie’s record needs to get in the way of his very own five-year stand. But as I say, no need to rush things here. Take the winter, spring and most of the summer to mull it over before phoning Peterson with the joyous news.

There is no downside for Cal if it waits ’till summer to name a coach. As Bob Dylan informs us: “when you’ve got nothing, you’ve got nothing to lose.”

What has Louie Zamora done besides be the Head Freshmen coach? Did he at least win league titles on the freshmen level? No he didn’t! Cal has a teacher on staff that has won a CIF championship, has won several league championships, and has had a hand in building two programs. If Cal doesn’t hire Winchell they are going to make a huge mistake that will set the program back even further.

Not taking anything away from white but they want someone with bigger name recognition like when they hired Lara or Peterson for baseball they want someone with a name to be the coach wouldn’t be surprised if the new coach at Warren is a current coach in D-1

Anonymous; I suggest, but not being a smart alec, you study/research what Anthony White did at Buena Park Football=very, very impressive to take over consistent loser-turn to winners..even winning some playoff games; then he leaves and BP back to pre White status.

Why is Cal High waiting so long to announce Zamora as the head coach. Wait to long and they will lose players to La Serna and St. Paul.

The Laker organization, and by extension the cable TV-subscribing public, will pay Lebron James $487,000 per game to rest his groin. On top of that, this injury is similar to a hamstring: it has a way of hanging around, recurring at unpredictable times. Is this team making a run for the gold, or merely running with the old?
