1. The Rams released running back Todd Gurley and linebacker Clay Matthews Thursday. Gurley, the 2017 Offensive Player of the Year, signed a four-year, $60 million extension before the 2018 season.

2. The Denver Broncos released quarterback Joe Flacco after one season.

3. New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton has tested positive for the coronavirus.

4. Two Lakers players have tested positive for the coronavirus. Names were not released.

5. Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart tested positive for the coronavirus.

6. The Detroit Lions traded cornerback Darius Slay to the Philadelphia Eagles for a third round and a fifth round draft pick.

7. The Jacksonville Jaguars traded quarterback Nick Foles to the Chicago Bears for a fourth round draft pick.

8. The Dallas Cowboys placed the franchise tag on quarterback Dak Prescott.

9. MLS extended suspension of play from 30 days to eight weeks due to the coronavirus.

10. Boston Red Sox left-hander Chris Sale will undergo Tommy John surgery the team announced Thursday.

    Very smart think tanks are saying we could be on school lockdown for 18 months. That is the timeline for a proven vaccine to be available and that is at it’s earliest. So look for the first real CIF competition to start in September 2021 if we are lucky.
