  2. Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes was knocked out of the game in the third quarter with a concussion. 
  3. This will be the 14th AFC Championship game for Tampa Bay quarterback Tom Brady. 
  4. The Atlanta Falcons hired former Tennessee Titans OC Arthur Smith as their head coach.

  6. The New York Yankees re-signed second baseman DJ LaMahieu to a six-year, $90 million contract.

  8. The Chargers are hiring Rams DC Brandon Staley as their new head coach according to multiple reports.  
  9. Ohio St. running back Trey Sermon announced that he is entering the NFL draft. 
  10. On this date in 1976 the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Dallas Cowboys 21-17 in Super Bowl X in the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida. Pittsburgh wide receiver Lynn Swann was named MVP.
