All kickoffs are at 7:00 p.m. unless otherwise indicated

Friday September 10

California (2-1) at Downey (2-1)

Cal is an improved team this year. The Condors beat Schurr in Zero Week and were impressive last week in a win over Segerstrom. Downey is…well Downey. The Vikings pounded Cathedral last Saturday night after a win over Bonita. Their only loss was to unbeaten Corona del Mar. Downey wins this one going away.

El Rancho (3-0) at Montebello (1-2)

El Rancho is on a roll. Some will say the Dons have feasted on cupcakes but they still haven’t allowed a point in three big wins. Montebello got its first win last week over South El Monte. The Oilers need another one to stay on track. They won’t get it here. Dons win.

Glendora (3-0) at Los Altos (1-2) (Thursday)

The Tartans are prefect so far and coming off an impressive win over Charter Oak. Los Altos stayed with Monrovia but came up a field goal short. Glendora has too much.

South Hills (0-3) at Monrovia (3-0)

Monrovia has had a couple of close calls but is still undefeated through three games. South Hills is at the other end of the spectrum. The Huskies have played three solid opponents but still have nothing to show for it. They’ll have to wait to get their first win. Wildcats remain unbeaten.

Monrovia 38 South Hills 14

La Salle (0-2) at Muir (1-0)

Two teams that have had some bumps in the road when it comes to the schedule. Muir had its first two games canceled before finally hitting the field to shut out Carson last week. La Salle had its game with Burbank canceled last week due to COVID-19 protocols. Could go either way. The Lancers make a play in the fourth quarter and come out on top.

Northview (2-1) at Covina (1-1) (Covina District Field)

Two evenly matched teams in this rivalry game between schools that share the same field. Northview, despite having several players down, was impressive last week in a win over South Hills. Covina won a shootout with Diamond Bar after getting blown out by Glendora in Zero Week. Northview should be fine if they can establish the running attack. The Vikings, like Glendora should be able to wear down the Colts in the end.

Schurr (1-2) at Rosemead (1-2)

Schurr was even with Arroyo last week until the Knights secured the win late. Spartans quarterback Jessie Preciado had to leave the game after he suffered an injury on defense. If Preciado can’t play this week that will definitely hinder Schurr’s offense. Rosemead picked up its first win last week with a rout of Ganesha. The Panthers will be celebrating the re-opening of Rod Marinelli Stadium now that it has been refurbished. Rosemead, in front of a big crowd that hasn’t been able to cheer for the Panthers in nearly two years, rides the momentum to victory.

Saturday September 11

San Dimas (3-0) at Bonita (2-1) Smudge Pot (Covina District Field)

The only local game on a Saturday night at Covina District Field! Where would you rather be? San Dimas is perfect though three games while Bonita lost just once – by four points to a solid Downey team. It should come down to a big play late in the game. It will go back and forth early. Bonita trails early but escapes with the victory.
