(La Puente) – Running back Houston Thomas scored three touchdowns and quarterback Noah Fifita threw for another three in Servite’s 58-7 shellacking of Bishop Amat Thursday night on the Lancers home field.
The Lancers got the ball first but couldn’t get anything going with a three and out.
On the Friars first possession Fifita hit Keyan Burnett when he made a outstanding catch over the defender for 41-yards. A few plays later Fifita hit Tetairoa McMillan on a eight-yard slant into the end zone giving them an early 7-0 lead.
Much of the same for the Bishop Amat on their second possession as this time there was a bad snap on the punt and Thomas picked it up and ran it in from nine yards out for Servite.
The Friars next two possessions Thomas’ name was called often as he scored on runs of six and three yards giving Servite a 28-0 lead early in the second quarter:
A third straight bad snap for the Lancers resulted in a safety when it went out of the back of the end zone make it 30-0.
On the Friars next two drives Fifita hit McMillan for his second score of the game and found Michael Welsh on a bullet in the back of the end zone making it 44-0 with five seconds left in the first half.
Servite got the running clock the second half and pounded the ball down the field and Tyler McCown capped it off with a one-yard dive to paydirt.
Amat finally got on the board midway through the fourth quarter when Julien “Huero” Lopez got four carries on the drive for 40-yards and a two-yard touchdown run, but it was too little too late with the score being at 51-7.
The Friars emptied the bench and sophomore running back Hoi Hansen ran over the Lancers defense to a 10-yard touchdown run for the last score of the game.
Bishop Amat only forced one punt but super sophomores Matthew Salazar and Richie Munoz were all over the field for the Lancers on defense.
Amat quarterback Tobin O’Dell went 8 of 17 for 58 yards.
Fifita was 16 of 26 for 244-yards and three touchdown passes. Thomas had 87-yards on the ground and two rushing touchdowns. McMillan had 71-yards receiving on four catches while Welsh led the team with seven catches and 83-yards.
Servite will travel next week again and visit Sierra Canyon while Bishop Amat will stay home and host Leuzinger.
U.Conn and USC wised up and fired their head coaches before more damage could be inflicted. Will Amat? Amat has a coach on staff not on Varsity but at the lower levels that knows Amat backwards and forwards. Still sorta young but taught well by his coaches and pop.
Amat is turning into the next Sierra Vista promises promises. I wonder how many other student athlete’s senior year are you going ruin with your social fingers. You promise the world to them and then you let them fall. Do you need some examples?
How is that new DC working out for Amat ? I think it’s the same guy that got fired from El Monte a couple years back ?
Amat turning into ST Paul
#Talk to him nice plz
Wow. Maybe not play Servite. How about traveling up the hill to play some other teams. Stay out of the OC for a bit.
Seeing as how hard they recruit plus offer free tuition to football stars they should be far more competitive against teams like Servite that gets the same type of athletes. Coaching and preparation is what’s wrong here. Can’t get off the ball on time and special teams are embarrassing. If they had wanted Servite could have won this game 120-0 with a running clock. U Conn fired it’s coach STAT after a humiliating defeat at home to the Holy Cross Good Samaritans 3 days ago. Remember private school coaches get PAID$$ brother. Not 1500 per season like public HC’s and no expense accounts.
Amat would be almost any SGV team but this is flat out embarrassing!!! Amat, you’re on the clock. Can you bounce back haha
“We will be fine once the playoffs start. We should be playing in the same division when I was the head coach in 2019. I’am familiar with D14 teams. they are tough”.
