Coaching? You can get 18 kids that are smaller than peewee and try to compete with Arroyo! You are failing! Switch the Arroyo coach to Mountain View and only the 18 kids they have and I guarantee he’ll suck

@ A-Town: That before-and-after argument works only with Vito Russell, who played wide receiver for the varsity as a sophomore in 2017, which was the year before Noah Rodriguez enrolled at AHS.
Raul Cortez played at AHS as a senior in 2018, after he transferred from L.A. Wilson. Kody Chuang was used only as a kicker when he was a sophomore in the fall of 2017. Noah was the only quarterback they caught passes from at Alhambra (except for one pass completion by Vito Russell).
I’m currently on deadline with some in-house material for AHS, but in a day or two I’ll give you the stats for Vito Russell as well as for Vidhan Gurung. (Vidhan played wide receiver in 2019 and also in our one-game “Covid season” last spring.)

@ Anonymous: You can make that argument because it’s true that AHS was thin at the quarterback position when Noah showed up as a freshman in the summer of 2018.
However, it’s also true that he wouldn’t have accomplished nearly as much without three top-notch receivers (Raul Cortez, Vito Russell, and Kody Chuang), a pretty good offensive line, and a ball-hawking defense which gave him plenty of opportunities to go on the attack.
You can’t play up Noah’s accomplishments while minimizing theirs. He could’ve done a lot worse when it came to choosing a team in 2018.

@Fbfan there’s always been favoritism just now it’s expected back in the day the star player got some breaks not like to but the coach took care of him unlike 4th string qb

If Noah never played for Alhambra they would still be irrelevant.

Expecting high school kids to be catered to because they are stars is exactly why we have a generation of entitled kids

Oh Dizzy Dez, you know not what you say. You talk about board material, I’m sure A-Town sez thanks! I’m quite sure Arroyo has SEM right where they want them. SEM can’t match Arroyo’s talent.

Stop it. South or Rosemead don’t stand a chance and I don’t even like Arroyo. It comes down to coaching in those games and South and Rosemead probably got the two worse HCs in the league.

@ron give that guy the stats of those receivers without and with Noah. There stats improved with Noah those receivers were good but no Zion Babb or Mitchell crockom. Zion and Mitchell were game changers made the game easier for everyone else

If Noah doesn’t have Raul Cortez, Vito Russell and Kody Chuang to throw to, no one would even know his name. Alhambra had some dudes during those years and as soon as the well went dry Noah bounced. Just shows what he does when things get tough.

Are you really comparing NBA Superstars to a low division high school qb with how many D1 offers? Let the kid enjoy being a good local hs school qb but let’s cut it on he’s the next Alabama 5 star who should be given the red carpet treatment.

So is the real reason you hate Alhambras coach because they wouldn’t cater to you because you thought you were Special?

@ron am not advertising for Noah Rodriguez but he was the qb during the most successful run for coach Eric has had. What has coach Eric done without him granted he had to rebuild Alhambra. So maybe this treat everyone the same is not working. I have no issue with treating the star a different. Dennis Rodman got some breaks with the bulls. It happens in life look at the workplace if you produce you get some breaks. Life is not fair.

South El Monte the Jekyll and Hyde team of the MVL made a statement on Friday beating the Gab Eagles 49-14. After giving an early score, SEM went to work scoring 28 unanswered points. This SEM team that showed up on Friday was vastly improved over the team that showed up the last time I saw them. Only question i have is this statement loud enough for the guys up North at Arroyo to hear?? Both teams won big on Friday setting up a showdown on this Friday night.

@ Anonymous: Thanks for telling us how much Alhambra “sucks.” If our players needed any additional motivation to improve their game, you just gave it to them.
I’ve noticed, based on the stats which have been posted so far, that San Gabriel really pounds the ball on the ground. Beating the Matadors on their field three weeks from now might be too tall a hill for us to climb, but the other upcoming league games are definitely winnable. We will do our best to win them.
Your posts sound like paid advertisements for Noah Rodriguez. While Noah was a very good quarterback during his two seasons at Alhambra, don’t forget that he benefited greatly from his supporting cast. It certainly wasn’t all about Noah: he had three All-CIF receivers to throw to, an offensive line that protected him reasonably well, and an excellent defense to help him out.
Michael Gonzalez can compete on the same field with Noah at any time. Michael has put up impressive numbers in 2021 despite the fact that he doesn’t have the same level of talent around him which Noah had in 2018 and ’19. Our current difficulties can’t be blamed on the quarterback.

@ron can you name the starting qb during that 20-3 run because he ain’t at Alhambra and look at the record before and after.
