Game Night: Week Eight

Braydon Brus and Glendora take on Colony Thursday night at Citrus College.

All kickoffs are at 7:00 p.m. unless otherwise indicated:

Thursday October 14

St. Francis (5-1) at St. Paul (6-0)

Maybe the best game of the weekend as the undefeated Swordsmen take on the once beaten Golden Knights. Close call that will be be decided late in the game. Could come down to the last kick wins. St. Francis escapes with the victory.

St. Francis 27 St. Paul 24

Colony (1-5) at Glendora (7-0) (Citrus College)

It’s been a tough season for Colony. It may get tougher Thursday night. The Tartans have shined all year in an unbeaten season led by hard nosed running back Braydon Brus. Their win over Ayala two weeks ago was huge. Glendora won’t stumble against Colony. Tartans remain undefeated.

Glendora 34 Colony 14

Diamond Ranch (1-6) at Northview (2-5) (Covina District Field)

Tough year so far for both teams. Diamond Ranch actually led unbeaten St. Paul at halftime a few weeks ago before faltering in the second half. Northview has lost two games by a total of five points. If the Vikings turned those into victories they have a winning record. Should be a close game that is decided late in the fourth quarter. Northview holds off D Ranch late.

Northview 21 Diamond Ranch 17

Friday October 15

La Serna (5-2) at California (4-3)

Cal competed with El Rancho but came up short. La Serna, after a couple of hiccups early, has been rolling lately. The Lancers have outscored their last three opponents 141-21. The Condors may have a moment here and there but this night will belong to La Serna.

La Serna 38 California 10

Rosemead (3-4) at Arroyo (7-0)

The Mission Valley League is on the line in this one. Arroyo is still unbeaten while Rosemead just dropped 77 on Gabrielino. The Panthers won’t be dropping 77 here. Their defense will need to step up to stop the Knights passing game. Rosemead will come to play but can the Panthers get all the way over the top? They’ll come close but Omar Navarro and the Knights emerge with the victory.

Arroyo 24 Rosemead 14

Monrovia (7-0) at San Marino (3-3)

I was told La Canada would beat Monrovia. The Wildcats dropped 60 on the Spartans. I was told Poly had a shot. Nope! 42-13 Cats. So I don’t want to hear San Marino is going to win. Not now. Not this year. Monrovia is going 10-0. Wildcats in a rout.

Monrovia 42 San Marino 7

San Dimas (5-2) at Los Altos (1-6)

San Dimas has too much for Los Altos. The Saints will run left, run right and then run some more. Los Altos may get a score or two early but eventually San Dimas wears the Conquerors down. Saints get the W.

San Dimas 31 Los Altos 14

San Gabriel (7-0) at Bell Gardens (2-4)

San Gabriel is back to being relevant. After years of being down the Matadors are undefeated and look like the favorites in the Almont. The Matadors aren’t about to let Bell Gardens get in their way. Mats win handily.

San Gabriel 35 Bell Gardens 10

Wow ER kids playing together since they were 8 only to lose to a LS team that’s been put together piece by piece over the years of recruiting PR DONS , TC Wolverines , Whittier Redskins/Trojans, La Mirada Matadors, and La Habra Lions. id say they have what you call a SUPER TEAM

Dang we have kids living outside LA county attending ER? That’s a new one to me. I know of 2 kids from outside the city but their parents went to ER and they always played at PR/TC wolverines. This group has been together since they were 8 year old kids.

LS is down this year not as good as the past but will win. It won tbe a blowout CAl plays them hurt just dont have the talent. The RB is good against subpar teams anf thats about it.

ER will destroy and lower SF selfesteem. SF should just fold thier program.

SF VS SP that will be a fun one tonight. SF will win.

How do you limit a team like LS from scoring at will and getting into a rhythm? You slow the game down and limit their offensive touches, that’s exactly what El Rancho did, the game plan was working, it was 7-0 LS with like 1 minute before halftime, ER just needed to convert on a drive or 2 but couldn’t, credit to LS for that. Now you have your shot to beat ER by 50.

A back up right tackle. Funny. If the water boy wants to go to La Serna who can blame them. Delusional La Serna fan. Oh all our players are supposed to go to our school. Now that’s ridiculous!

LS, the best team money can buy. Remember where are the Yankees. At home. Now you are crying about Warren pantsing you because of transfers? You should be putting a paper bag over your head for that one. LS could’nt win one game without all the Cal and Santa Fe players. Everybody knows LS is a bought team. Quit lying about your players living in the attendance area. Have you no pride?

LS didnt recruit any of my boys like St. Paul or Amat tried to.. and i’ll say this I’ve never seen a LS coach pull up to a Pop Warner game with little Caesars pizza for the kids they are trying to recruit… LOL
What recruiting tactics have you seen the LS coaching staff pull off? (Hidden Valley) TheRanch18?

If you’re a fan of the Del Rio league the next two weeks are going to be great.

Even though LS has destroyed Cal season after season.. and I can’t remember the last time Cal even made it a game..it’s still a great rivalry.

To answer the question about transfers and that most of the LS football team lives in another district…that is completely false! The core players that make LS football so good live right in the middle of LS’s boundaries. If a back up right tackle lives next-door to Cal and wanted to go to LS …can you blame him? If anybody should complain about transfers it is LS playing Warren in the second week. That was ridiculous!

LS should again destroy Cal on Friday… but of course anything could happen.

The big game will be next Friday at El Rancho. Rancho is playing pretty good football but has had a pretty weak schedule and that’s the main reason why they are undefeated. I sure hope that El Rancho plays a proper game against LS. We all remember the embarrassment of the first half in the fall. Playing the slow down game against LS was sad…even for them. We only had five games last season.. you should have let the kids play.

Like I said about Cal, LS should destroy El Rancho again…. but anything could happen.

SP vs SF will not be so close. SF will break away 2nd half. SP really has not played a good team this year. Most if not all have losing records.

St. Francis (5-1) at St. Paul (6-0)- St. Francis –
Lets see how good SP really is… they better pack that house and support the boys bc MAX is going to come in with a vengeance.
    St. Francis +21

Colony (1-5) at Glendora (7-0) (Citrus College)
Rooting for the Underdog hear, Glendora either blows this game out the water or Colony will put up the BIGGEST UPSET in the SGV this year .

Diamond Ranch (1-6) at Northview (2-5) (Covina District Field)
Diamond Ranch is not 1-6 team… either they are tanking on purpose to try and get good seed for Playoffs in a LOWER division or they need to stop and re-evaluate bc they have too much talent at that school to be 6-1… get it together…

    Friday October 15

La Serna (5-2) at California (4-3)
LOL, the well RECRUITED team from the Hill will win this one but IM STILL ROOTING FOR CAL… hopefully Vance shows up… only chance Cal can win is with Vance , Ls got too much talent and will shut everything else down.

    Rosemead (3-4) at Arroyo (7-0)
they need to take Arroyo out this league… Arroyo +21

Monrovia (7-0) at San Marino (3-3)
    blow out…. Monrovia

San Dimas (5-2) at Los Altos (1-6)
Whats going on with LOS ALTOS?????? San Dimas +28

San Gabriel (7-0) at Bell Gardens (2-4)
don’t count out BG, they are tough.. they don’t have enough depth but those boys are going to come at SG with everything they got to ruin that perfect schedule

    Bell Gardens with upset

    EL RANCHO vs Santa Fe
pretty sad to see what SF has become… what was once the top of the Food Chain in the SGV is now a bottom feeder… This is the result of not having supportive ADMINISTRATION. SF is lucky to keep some kids home bc keep losing athletes to other schools.
check how many SF kids are at LS- The school that don’t recruit LOL

I pray for a clean game, bc rumor has it SF almost lost its marbles vs LS… ER better walk away and don’t get in any trouble that can disqualify you for following week, game will be over by halftime

Tim hits it squarely on the head with his assessment of St Francis-St. Paul being the hot ticket this week. He also knocks it out of the park by positing La Serna as the big winner in their matchup with lame-duck Cal. Best of luck to all parties.
