By George Hernandez

Monrovia wide receiver Carlos Hernandez is the number one receiver in the state of California with 1,210 yards. The Wildcats are a perfect 8-0 on the year.

Mid Valley Sports staffer Big George Hernandez sat down with Carlos Hernandez and got a quick Q&A.

Mid Valley Sports: What’s up Carlos? How’s it going?

Carlos Hernandez: I’m good. Taking it day by day.

MVS: You and Monrovia are having a great season, Did you know it was going to be this good?

CH: With the talent we have there was no doubt that we were going to be good.

MVS: Are there any other sports you play?

CH: I run track, also a major factor of my football skills.

MVS: How would you describe your style at wideout?

CH: My style at wideout would have to be Keenen Allen and Davonte Adams, a shift receiver off the line.

MVS: Are there any receivers you study?

CH: Adams and Justin Jefferson would have to be the top two I study.

MVS: Do you have a favorite NFL team?

CH: My favorite team is the Green Bay Packers.

MVS: Do you have any game day/pre-game routines or traditions?

CH: McDonalds for breakfast every game day and praying a lot would have to be my top traditions.

MVS: What’s one fun or unique fact about you off the football field that many people probably don’t know about?

CH: I didn’t start playing contact football until my freshmen year.

MVS: We all know you bond with your QB Noah Rodriguez on the field. How close are you guys off the field?

CH: Yeah, me and Noah have been friends since sixth grade. We used to kill it in flag football. So it’s been a strong connection ever since.

MVS: How does it feel being considered one of the best if not the best wideout in the SGV?

CH: It’s an honor to be listed the best wide receiver in the SGV. I was listed #4 and I was sure I would be listed #1 before the end of the season. Numerous hours of critiquing myself and working on my craft. It wouldn’t have been done without all of the coaches I’ve worked with. They know who they are.

MVS: How would it be to cap of this year with a championship?

CH: Finishing the year off with a championship would be God’s blessing. All the hours me and my team have put in, I mean we deserve it. We’re going to work harder and accomplish that goal.

MVS: Congrats on the success and good luck on the rest of the season.

CH: Thank you!

Football and lifting weights go hand in hand as well. This not only makes you stronger, but also makes you faster.
