@ Hee Hee (again): Thanks. Alhambra’s players and coaches easily could’ve said, “Forget about it,” after they went 1-4 during the first half of the regular season. But instead, they kept working hard and have now won five of their last seven games. They deserve a lot of credit.
And, you’re right about the state part. I just wanted to caution people about putting wins in the bank that haven’t been earned yet.

    Ron
I said nothing about State. That was Moor.
I have no dog in the AHS championship, so I am more that willing to go out on a limb and predict success, while poking some fun at Div 14. I understand you are unwilling to tempt fate by taking the same stance.

congratulations to Alhambra in advance as CIF Division 14 champs.. On to Division 13 in 2022! Good job!

@ Moor & Hee Hee!: The talk about practicing on Thanksgiving and going to state is premature. We need to win on Friday night first. If our team accomplishes that, only then can we discuss playing in the division final a day or two after Thanksgiving.

@ Anonymous (the one talking about clowns and losing records): There would’ve been no playoff spot for us at all if we didn’t beat Bell Gardens in our last regular-season game. That was a must-win game for Alhambra, and we won it.
Also, we were all set with a third-place finish in the Almont League, but San Gabriel’s loss to Schurr caused the three-way tie for second which had to be resolved by coin flips. Someone had to win, and we had the good fortune of being among the winners this time.
If anyone has a right to be upset, it’s the people at Bell Gardens, because there were other teams with worse records that made the playoffs this year.
You can call Alhambra’s upcoming game against Loara the “.500 Bowl.” The winner will have a record of 7-6, and we’d gladly accept that at this point. May the best teams win in the semifinal round!

HA! Alhambra still playing and will be practicing on Thanksgiving when all the so called big boys like Warren, Bishop and Monrovia are at home licking their owies. Who cares if it’s division 100 were going to state! And where did all the posters go? Back to mama’s basement. Ha!

Is winning Div 14 like picking the “You won second place in a beauty contest collect $15” from the card pile in Monopoly?

Ha Ha! Inquiring minds want to know…

Note I will congratulate Alhambra in advance as CIF Division 14 champs.. On to Division 13 in 2022! Good job!

@ Moorover: And you, sir, have a dry sense of humor, which I can appreciate. We’ll see what happens on Friday night.

@ Anonymous: Thank you for the kind words. There are other good people who post on these comment threads, and I enjoy reading their perspectives as well. Many of us have something positive to offer.

I apologize for the double posting; I encountered error messages on my first attempt and thought that my comments didn’t go through. So, I retyped them and tried again.
This happened shortly before Tim posted a story, along with his last rendition of “The Ten.” I think the website gets overloaded when Tim and a few others are all trying to post at the same time.

The silver lining is that I’ve had my spelling corrected by Ron Vrooman….it’s better than a CIF title.

There were some players that transferred out of Alhambra and went to Monrovia. Well those guys lost in the first round of the playoffs…. Alhambra is still playing… there’s a word for that isn’t there? ……..Karma!
    Good luck Alhambra!

@ Moorover: The word you were looking for is “dispatch,” as in send, eliminate, or sink. We’re working on doing likewise to Loara this week.
All we can do is play the games, one at a time. But, who knows? A couple more wins this season might give us the momentum we need to go up a division or two next year.
Some people focus solely on the dark clouds and totally miss the silver linings. Don’t look now; we’ve just won five of our last seven games.

Alhambra has had clear sailing thus far in its quest for division 14 glory. Bergstrom’s charges boast a hefty -24.9 power rating, which was plenty to dispath the likes of Santa Rosa Academy (-46.8) and Hamilton (-34.8). This week, the locals face a stiffer challenge in Loara (-24.5). Everything looks good, except the minus numbers, but far be it from me to be negative.
