It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who believes that the Cal Preps/MaxPreps algorithms are fatally flawed. For the CIF Southern Section to make such extensive use of them is an indication that the CIF management is lazy or understaffed.
Most championships are between teams that haven’t played. League opponents facing each other is rare
CIF football is the only sport where a computer and the data some nerd puts in it decides who plays where. I guess CIF admins are not man enough to do the work themselves and take some heat so they give the task to anonymous.
Servite of Anaheim is coming off its first triumph over St John Bosco in ten years, and will face its arch rival Mater Dei in what is probably a national championship game. That’s happening at Long Beach Veterans stadium, for those so inclined to check out this action. By the way, the division one pairings are the only ones which feature matchups that people are familiar with, unlike the other divisions, where teams who are strangers to each other have been thrown together by a computer.
