Brown Out at Los Altos

Travis Brown and Los Altos have parted ways after four years.

By Tim Peterson

(Hacienda Heights) – Travis Brown was dismissed as the head football coach at Los Altos he confirmed Monday.

Brown went 16-22 during a four year stint at Los Altos including 1-2 in the post season. Brown’s best year was 2019 when the Conquerors went 9-3 and advanced to the second round of the playoffs before losing to La Serna.

Los Altos went 2-8 this past season.

“I’m going to take some time for myself and spend the holidays with my family before deciding in my next move,” Brown said.

Los Altos will now begin the search for a new head coach immediately.

LA needs a coach that can consistently win every year. Good coaches win every year no matter what athlete’s they have or in some cases don’t have. Good coaches coach up the hand their dealt. Bad coaches have up and down years based on the athlete’s they get. Big Lou, Hags, Pete, George, Beltran, Spat, Herrington, Bechtel, Rohrer, Bogan, Medrano, etc…. won every year by coaching up what they have, be it some programs brought in same good athlete’s and some didn’t. Travis is not that coach.

Bottom Line, CO had a solid team this year. Amazing how bad they ran those 6 plays….or should I say how easy it was for teams to defend those 6 plays. The program at CO needs to be handed over to Roger Lehigh, but instead it appears Dom will linger as HC, with both hands on his head in frustration, as the Perry boys find their way as the OC and DC.
The QB problems have also made the last 4 years a struggle. CO used to have QBs that started as sophs. But now it’s a new one each season.
Losing to Glendora, Bonita, Alta Loma, and the Kares in the same season – c’mon man! Time for a change.
It was nice to beat LA though.

This comes as no surprise, because this community is used to having a solid football squad to rally around. Speaking of which, I wonder how long Charter Oak is going give big Lou’s son a pass if his product continues to disappoint.

The new principal is lost at Los Altos. I know Brown wasn’t a very good coach, but he is going to put Brown’s old DC in charge. Wrong, he is going to bring back Dale. What LA needs to do is fire the principal and AD and than the football team we start winning some ball games. Los Altos has every advantage in the district. Any student in the HLPSD can choose any four schools to attend. Of course all the football players choose LA over Wilson, La Puente, and Workman. That’s like having four schools in one as far as football players. Well that brings Travis coaching tree(SV coach 0-8) and Travis 2-13 last year, not good or as they say “as good as gone.”
