@ Punch Line: After reading the exhaustive front-page article in Thursday’s L.A. Times, I get the impression that Coach Rollinson ranks just slightly below the Holy Trinity in the Mater Dei hierarchy. He’s not going to go now without a (legal or administrative) fight.
It appears that Mater Dei’s defense against the hazing lawsuit is going to be: 1) The two players involved in the incident went rogue; 2) Rollinson and his staff have never promoted or condoned hazing of players at Mater Dei; and 3) To the extent that any such behavior has occurred, Rollinson never knew anything about it.

If Mater Dei decides to do the right thing and show Bruce Rollinson the door, maybe Sir Punchalot can bring some real fight to the Huskies’ program. Body-up!

Damien coach Mike Leduc notched his 1000th win the other night, to become the second-winningest coach in southern section history, behind Gary McKnight of Mater Dei.

IMO these 3 coaches could turn around South Hills in one year and anyone of these should have been COY in 2021. Chris Williams of Monrovia brought the Cats as one of the most powerful offenses around and also the best team to watch week by week for entertainment. Steve Bogan had Bonita beating La Serna and Jurupa Hills for gods sake and playing in D4. Bonita used to be known as soft. Not anymore. Adrian Medrano’s tiny sized Dons jumped up 4 divisions. In comparison that would be like St Paul playing so well in 2021 that they moved up 4 divisions and would have to play Mater Dei in round 1. I doubt any one of these guys is going anywhere but it would be fun to see what any one of these coaches could do with South Hills talent.

South Hills could hire coach V from Sierra Vista, but do you want a quick fix for two years and than the program goes 0-10 again. I would not go that route and South Hills will not either. South Hills is in the some district as Northview and Covina both have really good coaches. Will South Hills hire coach Brown from Los Altos, I don’t think so. Travis got handed the keys to a Ferrari and totaled it, 2-8. There are good coaches in the SGV but if you want them South Hills have to put together an attractive package. It will not be easy turning this program around and having them compete with the top teams in the valley. They have to hire a coach that can build a winning program. They might have to poach a good coach that already has a job, like the colleges do. This way they know they got a winner.
