Conquerors State Their Case, 57-41

(Hacienda Heights) – CJ Bellamy scored 20 points and Jazz Gardner had 17 to lead Los Altos to a 57-41 win over visiting Edison Saturday night in the CIF State Regional semi finals.

The Conquerors and Edison went toe to toe in the first quarter with Los Altos emerging with a 17-16 lead. Gardner scored seven in the quarter while Dylan Hugues scored 8 for the Chargers including two threes.

Neither team could muster much offense in the second quarter as Los Altos outscored Edison 9-7. Gardner had 8 of the 9 and 15 of the team’s 26 in the first half. The Conqs went into the break leading 26-23.

Bellamy heated up in the third quarter knocking down a three and scoring 7 points in the third. Gardner threw down a jam that gave Los Altos a 34-27 advantage and led to an Edison timeout.

Los Altos had its biggest quarter of the night in the fourth with 18 points. Bellamy sank five free throws as Edison attempted to foul to get back in the game. John Corina also buried a big corner three to help put the game away.

While Bellamy and Gardner combined for 37 points Jordan Morales was also in double figures with 10 and Corina added 5. For Edison Trey Wilborn led the team with 15 points and Hugues added 9.

Edison finished the season with an overall record of 28-6. Los Altos, 26-6, advances to the Regional Finals at Foothill Tuesday night.

    The Lakers are full-up with simmering, overpaid malcontents….while in Hacienda Heights, we have guys earning zilch and playing top ball. Best of luck to Jeannie Buss with the babysitting, and to Jeff Lucas with the actual sport.
