  1. Boys Soccer: Temple City beat Los Altos 2-0 Saturday to win the CIF State Division V Championship. 
  2. Boys Basketball: Los Altos will face Foothill Tuesday night in the CIF State Division 2 Regional Final.  
  3. The Azusa Pacific Men’s basketball team lost to Academy of Art 73-70 Saturday in the PacWest title game. 
  4. North Carolina beat Duke 94-81 Saturday in Duke head coach Mike Krzysewski’s final game at Cameron Indoor Stadium. 
  5. LeBron James scored 56 points in the Lakers 124-116 win over the Golden State Warriors Saturday night. The 56 points was the most he’s ever scored as a Laker. 
  6. Former Arizona State quarterback Jayden Daniels has transferred to LSU.  
  7. Brian Griese, who has been a color analyst on ESPN’s Monday Night Football since 2020, was hired as the San Francisco 49ers quarterbacks coach. 
  8. Dallas Stars forward Jason Robertson had a hat trick in a 6-3 win over the Minnesota Wild on Sunday. With the three goals Robertson became the first player to record back-to-back hat tricks since Washington’s Alex Ovechkin in 2000. 
  9. On this day in 2016 Quarterback Peyton Manning announced his retirement from the NFL. 
  10. Former USC/ Pittsburgh Steeler/ Hall of Fame wide receiver Lynn Swann turns 70 today.

    Best of luck to Daniels as he takes his skills to Louisiana. I saw him in that CIF title game at Downey a few years ago, and he’s certainly for real. I wonder, however, if the NFL would want a guy whose main thing is tucking the ball and running. Outside of certain exceptional plays, like John Elway diving into the endzone in the Superbowl, most pro teams don’t want their prize signal caller risking injury by regularly venturing into the secondary, where a lot of body parts can often become dislodged.
