(Covina) – Solomon Davis hauled in a 31-yard touchdown strike from Richie Munoz with 3:12 left in the fourth quarter to lift Charter Oak to a 16-15 win over Chino Hills Friday Night at Lou Farrar Stadium.

The Chargers attempted a two-point conversion that failed allowing Chino Hills one last shot at the victory. But the Chargers forced a Chino Hills fumble in inside their own 30-yard line with 31 seconds left to secure the victory.

Chino Hills led 9-7 at the half and after a scoreless third quarter, Charter Oak took a 10-9 lead with 9:50 left in the game on a 30-yard field goal by Luis Marin.

However Chino Hills immediately responded with a 19 yard touchdown run by Hunter Corbina to cap a long drive that was aided by a pass interference penalty. The Huskies took a 15-10 lead with 6:56 left after their two point conversion attempt failed.

The Chargers got the ball back with 4:07 remaining after stopping Chino Hills and were able to score.

The game, which was played under a steady rain most of the night, was also marred by penalties. Chino Hills took an early 2-0 lead when Zakkarii Black was tackled in the endzone for a safety.

Charter Oak answered with a 13-yard touchdown run by Black to take a 7-2 lead with 4:40 left in the first quarter.

Donnie Parish returned the ensuing kickoff 97 yards for a score to out the Huskies back in front 9-7. The score stayed that way until early in the fourth when the teams exchanged leads before the Chargers held on to win.

Both teams offenses struggled at times due to the wet ball and wet field, but the Munoz-Davis connection and the fumble recovery in the end was enough for the Chargers.

Charter Oak stayed unbeaten improving to 3-0 with the win while Chino Hills fell to 2-1.
