La Salle Blows out Rosemead, 48-0

By Rich Whittington

(Pasadena) – Playing on a hot, rainy, night, courtesy of Hurricane Kay, the La Salle Lancers proved that Kay was not the only storm in town, as they pummeled the visiting Rosemead Panthers, 48-0, during periods of strong wind, hard rain, and excessive heat at Kohorst Field.

La Salle quarterback David Mysza had the hot hand of the evening, completing touchdown passes of 61, 10, 30, and 31yards. Mysza connected with receiver Daniel Arroyas, Jr for his first TD, WR Christian Alarcon for the second, and WR Mauricio Pavon for his third and fourth scores of the evening.

The Lancers also did well on the ground, with Anthony Balurdi finding the end-zone on a 1-yard TD blast. Also logging a rushing score was running back Will Cloughtery, who scored on a two-yard run.

La Salle also got the job done on Special Teams. In addition to having a TD run, Cloughtery also blocked a Rosemead punt, and recovered this punt in the end-zone for a touchdown.

Another standout on Special Teams was kicker Hadziosmanovic, who, in addition to converting six PAT attempts, successfully executed an onside kick attempt, which he also recovered.

Also playing well for the Lancers was the offensive line. This group provided time for plays to develop, and kept sacks to a minimum. Athanasios Darlas, Thomas Gomez, Adam Pavon, Brandon Rodriguez, Raymond Marshall, and the rest of the O-Line made sure that their specialists got the time needed to successfully run the offense.

Rosemead, 0-3, never got on track. The Panthers could not find a rhythm. They only possessed the ball five times in the contest, resulting in four punts and one failed fourth down conversion attempt.

La Salle’s next contest is scheduled for next Friday night when the Lancers travel to Cathedral to
play the Phantoms. Also on Friday night Rosemead will return to the friendly confines of Rod Marinelli Stadium, where they will host the Baldwin Park Braves. Kickoff for both of these contests is 7:00 p.m.

They only had 5 possessions? Muffed the onside kick , botched punt
Did they just call the game at halftime to end the misery ? Doesn’t really make sense

It’s going to be a Ugly Night for The Lancers. Cathedral is going to put up big numbers in this one.
