All kickoffs are at 7:00 p.m. unless otherwise indicated.
Thursday October 27
El Rancho (5-4) at California (4-5)
Bothe teams are 2-1 in the Del Rio. Winner takes second place. El Rancho gets it done.
El Rancho 35 California 14
Rosemead (3-6) at El Monte (4-5)
El Monte is looking to wrap up second place in the Mission Valley League. Rosemead is still suffering from injuries and a 41-0 pounding at the hands of Arroyo last week. Lions win.
El Monte 31 Rosemead 20
Ayala (7-2) at Bonita (6-3)
Second place in the Mountain West is on the line. Both teams lost to league leader Charter Oak by a field goal. Should come down to the wire. Bonita wins a shootout.
Bonita 34 Ayala 31
Friday October 28
Montebello (5-4) at Schurr (5-4)
Schurr is still frustrated over a loss to Bell Gardens two weeks ago while Montebello is frustrated over blowing a 26 point lead to Alhambra last week in a 36-33 defeat. Schurr has enough to get the W here. Spartans win the city rivalry.
Schurr 28 Montebello 24
South Pasadena (8-1) at San Marino (4-5)
Monrovia will win the Rio Hondo but the winner in this one will mean second place and a sure playoff spot. South Pasadena has lost only once all year. The Tigers will secure second.
South Pasadena 24 San Marino 14
Claremont (6-2) at West Covina (5-4)
It’s the battle for the San Antinio League crown as both teams come in 2-0. West Covina’s running attack will eventually wear down Claremont. The Bulldogs grind out a victory.
West Covina 21 Claremont 17
San Dimas (6-3) at Northview (7-2) (Covina District Field)
Los Altos stunned San Dimas last week while Northview was taking care of Diamond Ranch. If San Dimas can surprise the Vikings the Saints could win the Valle Vista if Los Altos loses. That won’t happen. Northview jumps out to an early lead and holds off San Dimas in the fourth. Vikes win…close.
Northview 31 San Dimas 27
Azusa (9-0) at Gladstone (6-3) (Citrus College)
Azusa and Gladstone face each other for the last time as the two schools merge together next year. Azusa looking to go unbeaten in the regular season. The Aztecs won’t let Gladstone get in their way. Azusa wins handily.
Azusa 28 Gladstone 7
@ NWO: I’m sorry I missed your question yesterday morning; I was busy teaching eighth grade at the time.
We couldn’t add to our lead after we made it 13-0 early in the third quarter, and your guys outplayed us in the fourth quarter and in overtime. It was a hard-earned win for San Gabriel.
Agree100%
Hope it happens for them , if they could keep those kids they could do
More than 6 , maybe even beat Cerritos
@Detached Observer
Its a start plus being #2 would have got them in, in any playoff format. Maybe those kids that leave stay and those kids that don’t go that live around the block enroll. That alone could make them a 6 win team.
Hey Ron, what do you think is going to happen tonight? SG and Alhambra are pretty evenly matched.
Agree 100%
Great comeback last week. Good luck tonight , your staff does good job keeping kids motivated and maximizing talent . That gives you a shot !
Keep the dream alive
Sure . Good job Pioneer
But when all. you have to do is beat Artesia (one win all year vs Glenn!) and Glenn ( one win all year vs Firebaugh and total.disarray second half) to make the playoffs ?????
This is CIF induced remedial playoff spot #putthegoldstarontherefrigerator
Constructive thought,Get off Pioneer jock they not in that league anymore.Juarez and his staff have them in playoffs im his 2nd year. There was a time when he beat Ls reguraly.Gets the most from what he has no tranfers in.
@ NWO: That’s just one more thing that CIF Southern Section should change, along with waiting until the end of the regular season to place teams into playoff divisions. By the way, the Lower Pacific League has only two teams, Hoover and Glendale.
They aren’t, friendly hills don’t want it
LS with a stadium? The people that live around La Serna could care less about football. No way they want their tranquility ruined by the likes of Santa Fe and El Rancho fans leaking oil on their streets and blaring cumbias and Bad Bunny. Now if your talking about building a La Serna football stadium in Pico Rivera that could be approved.
Funny how the new stadiums at both Pioneer and Cal high haven’t given those schools the expected boost in football. I hear they’re planning to build another such football palace at La Serna. If that means the Lancers would start losing like Pioneer, it’s time to scrap those blueprints.
How are teams with a 2-0 record playing for a league title? Aren’t there usually five games in league?
From T. Peterson: No. There are several leagues that have only 4 teams.
