@ Moor: The lower-level teams at Alhambra are being coached capably by some of Coach Bergstrom’s assistants.
The main problem is that many of our athletes never played tackle football before enrolling at AHS. They are literally being taught how to play football as 13-to-16-year-olds. No Junior All-American or Pop Warner football here; no sir.

@ Anonymous: Diana Diaz-Ferguson took over as principal at Alhambra High School in January 2022. As far as I know, she’s still there; I saw her on campus just last week.
David Keyes lasted just a semester as principal there; he got moved out in December 2021.

@ Detached Observer (either the real one or his alter ego): I appreciate the mention. I apologize for being away from this forum for a while. I’ve worked eight of the last nine school days (as a substitute teacher) and have tried to keep up with my household duties while managing an illness. (Fortunately, it’s not too serious.)
I’ll be honest with everyone: Alhambra is struggling right now. Going into this season, we didn’t expect to have an easy time, but neither did we anticipate being 0-5 at this point.
The teams we’ve played so far have a combined record of 20-7, and that’s something no one could’ve seen coming. We’ve lost to South El Monte (which is now 5-0), Glen Wilson High (4-2), Temple City (3-2), La Salle (3-3), and South Pasadena (5-0). Our first two losses were in winnable games that got away from us in the fourth quarter, but we’ve gotten blown out by our last three opponents.
Our offense has been erratic at best, and we’ve typically been killed by poor pass defense and special teams play. Wilson and South Pasadena play smash-mouth football and simply ran us over. Injuries have also been a factor, but that can be said on behalf of many teams.
We have a committed, intelligent, and hardworking coaching staff, but the coaches can’t go out there and make the plays on the field. We’re still a relatively young team, but even some of our more experienced players haven’t yet developed in the ways that we would like.
What you’re seeing at Alhambra is also the result of our going without a feeder youth program for an entire decade, as well as having a school district administration that has horribly neglected our facilities. (We are only now starting to get some real action concerning the latter issue.)
Well, I’m going to check out for now; I have a teaching job in the morning. Have a pleasant day.

I love to sit on rose bushes because it makes me smell like roses.
Let me complain about being anonymous and someone else posting anonymous things using my anonymous name. Let me cry about it on my own behind this cell phone or computer screen. Did I tell you that I like to eat my cereal with water? I have fond memories of when I was in HS ( I wont mention where) I could tell you the location of all the clean toilets. Don’t ask why.

    stop using my name .

    thank you .

    period.

Easy Santa Fe. I think you can beat the ranch this year but you are not that team yet.
