  1. The Dodgers lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 5-1 Thursday and were swept in the three-game series. 
  2. The Dodgers optioned pitcher Bobby Miller to Triple A after he allowed nine earned runs in four innings in a 10-1 loss to the Phillies Monday. 
  3. Gregg Berhalter was fired as the U.S. Soccer Men’s National Team’s head coach. 
  4. Eliza Reyes, the mother of Isaiah, Robert and Ezekiel Lucero, confirmed that the boys have transferred out of Damien and enrolled at Northview. 
  5. Former NFL DC Monte Kiffin, father of Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin, passed away Thursday at the age of 84. Monte Kiffin was the DC on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers team that won the Super Bowl in 2002. 
  6. Columbia beat Uruguay 2-0 in the Copa America Semi-Final. Argentina vs. Columbia, Copa America Final, Sunday 5:00 p.m. FOX.    
  7. Team USA beat Team Canada 86-72 in an Olympic tuneup Wednesday night in Las Vegas. Anthony Edwards had 13 points off the bench and Anthony Davis had 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks. 
  8. Former major leaguer Sean Burroughs suffered fentanyl intoxication when he died in May in Long Beach according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. 
  9. Paul Skenes threw seven no-hit innings before being pulled Thursday in the Pittsburgh Pirates 1-0 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers ended up with two hits. 
  10. Carolina Panthers at New England and Detroit at New York Giants Thursday August 8 in the first NFL Preseason games.

    Given fentanol after a severe fall with multiple broken bones, woke up in the hospital hours later with no knowledge of how I got there. If Sean OD’d on fentanol, he went out without a clue.

    I’ve read that fentanyl is about 40 times more powerful than morphine. This stuff brings the central nervous system very near to the point of death, so it’s not surprising that someone might pass away while using this drug to alleviate whatever stress they can’t handle.
