(Glendora) – Dylan Robinson caught six passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns to lead Bonita to a 47-7 rout of San Dimas Friday night in the Smudge Pot rivalry at Citrus College.
Robinson hauled in touchdown passes of 74 and 75 yards from Travis Lippert – both in the first half. The Bearcats led 27-7 at the half and then broke it wide open in the third quarter.
Lippert hit Robinson, a Washington commit, on Bonita’s first offensive play from scrimmage on he was off to the races for 74 yards.
On Bonita’s next possession Joseph Lara took a pass from Lippert and went 13 yards for a score to cap a 78-yard drive early in the second quarter.
San Dimas picked up its only score of the night later in the quarter when Brandon Meredith connected with Jeremiah Gibson Fernandez on a 47-yard touchdown strike with 9:12 left in the second quarter. It was all Bonita from there.
Cole Parra grabbed an 18-yard TD pass from Lippert with just over four minutes left in the first half. Then with just 58 seconds left in the second quarter Mr. Robinson struck again. This time he got behind the San Dimas secondary and ran under a 75-yard pass and sprinted to paydirt to make it 27-7 at the break.
Bonita quickly ended it in the third. Noah Mikhail finished an 80-yard drive with a five-yard run on the first possession. On the next series after the Bearcats recovered a San Dimas fumble at the Saints 28, Parra scored on a five-yard run.
Lippert thew one more touchdown pass on the fourth quarter to add some gravy to the biscuits. He hit Jacob Gill for an 11-yard score to make it 47-7.
Lippert had a big night completing 12 passes for 319 yards and five touchdowns. Parra had one score on the ground and one receiving. The entire Bearcat offense was in a groove but it all revolved around Robinson.
Other than the one score the Saints had trouble gaining any momentum offensively.
Bonita has now won six straight in the Smudge Pot and improved to 4-0 on the season. San Dimas fell to 2-1.
