  1. MLB and Cincinnati Reds legend Pete Rose, baseball’s all-time hit leader with 4,256, passed away Monday at the age of 83. 
  2. Rose played 24 seasons, 18 with the Reds, and was a three-time World Series winner and 17-time All-Star. He was the National League MVP in 1973 and World Series MVP two years later. He holds the major league record for games played (3,562) and plate appearances (15,890) and the NL record for the longest hitting streak (44). 
  3. Rose was given a lifetime ban from baseball in 1989 after an investigation by MLB determined that he bet on baseball including his own team, the Reds during the 1985, 1986, and 1987 baseball seasons.
  4. Rose initially denied any wrongdoing but eventually admitted that he did bet on baseball and Reds games although he said he never bet against them. Rose was never elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame. 
  5. Former NBA star/ Hall of Famer Dikembe Mutombo passed away Monday of brain cancer at the age of 58. 
  6. Monday Night Football results: Tennessee 31 Miami 12; Detroit 42 Seattle 29. 
  7. Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff set an NFL record completing all 18 of his passes in the win over the Seahawks. 
  8. Tuesday MLB playoff results; AL Wild Card Game 1- Detroit 3 Houston 1, Kansas City 1 Baltimore 0. NL Wild Card Game 1 – New York Mets 8 Milwaukee 4, San Diego 4 Atlanta 0. 
  9. The Las Vegas Raiders have informed other NFL teams that they are open to trading All-Pro receiver Davante Adams. 
  10. Buffalo Bills defensive end Von Miller has been suspended four games without pay for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
