No one blamed the announcer… everyone knows why SF won, they made the plays they needed to make and that’s it. Even if ER would’ve won the announcer needs to learn to read the room.

He started in 2021 so he was in his 4th year . 12-24 record . Tim covered this well at the time of his resignation. They’ve given up 320 this year , so an average of 35 per game .

Interestingly they showed no compunction in putting up 63 on Keppel
In the season opener only to score less than that in the next 8 games combined .

The MVL is ripe for a new contender with Arroyo and Rosemead in particular falling to the bottom rung of football. A good coach might be able to turn the tide and get them in playoffs .
A -35 team will be a contender in MVL over next few years

MVL Hoops MV ? How many points have they given up so far this season? I suggest, without research on MaxPreps, maybe 400? Can anyone tell me how many years MV’s head coach has been at MV.? Is the administration (first off the Principal) care about his student / athletes not having a good coaching staff enough to think (at least consider) about a change. They have less than zero to lose if a change is made

Truth You are correct ‘heads up high’ because the program appears to be changing for the better with , I think , second year new head coach. Coaching is so very important! SF earns second spot and LS may beat SF by 20 or 30 and it will not be terrible for Santa Fe (My suggestion only) because they beat ER and earned CIF playoffs

Not sure where you are going with this . MVL was critical of Moye who coaches at Arroyo. Another commentator was critical of Elias ( from his personal experience) who is at Arcadia. Both coaches are in their first year at their new school.
Which coach was dealing with the passing of their father ? This is the first I’ve heard of this , so please clarify.

In any case the problems within these programs have been discussed in previous weeks , particularly at Arroyo. I find it difficult to say that either school is having a good year . If there’s something good happening there , please let us know .

You have to be a special type of loser. Mad that your kid at the youth dons is riding the bench. So now your one main goal in life is to talk crap about Elias as a high school coach. You need Jesus trying to take someone down the week his dad passed away. Any time a school like arroyo has a dedicated coach they’re in a good spot. Elias ignore this pico haters who hate on their own.

Are you really blaming the announcer for your loss? You lost because of two interceptions in a close game, not because of what the announcer said. If you’re not blaming injuries, now you’re pointing fingers at the announcer—when will that end? Santa Fe is the new contender. I hope they can at least give LS a good game. Even if they don’t, there’s nothing to be ashamed of; keep your heads high, Santa Fe. You’ve been impressive the last two years, and #11 is looking smooth.

Been saying this when he got hired. He doesn’t know how to be a HC and when he gets a W he doesn’t know how to do that with class. Act like you’ve been there. The Sierra altercation, players with no discipline and trying to embarrass other teams. Don’t you think some of the recent Arroyo, SEM or EM teams could have scored 60+ on MV? But look back the last decade never happen those coaches knew how to win and had good sportsmanship.

Agreed. Why is arroyo still dropping deep passes up by 40? What is Moyé’s deal? Singiser never did that, Leonardis called off the dogs. Why embarrass the MV kids even more? You’re already up by 40. Shows the type of person Moyé and his staff are, they ran up the score in a JV game vs El Monte 66-0, kept passing through the 4th quarter with all of their starters still in. He’s an awful coach with no understanding of sportsmanship whatsoever. He needs to be fired ASAP. He’s ruined a storied program. South EM will run right through him and hopefully embarrass him. Sad to see arroyo fall. Arroyo needs to court Leonardis and or Singiser to replace him ASAP.

How-as an Arroyo supporter-could anyone be happy with what transpired against Mtn. View last night. The personal foul penalty-on the same player that received one last week, the cheap shots on far too many plays, the near brawl on the MV sideline-those are NOT signs of a disciplined team. Whether MV players were talking or not is of no consequence-Arroyo football has always been disciplined enough to be better than that! Arroyo had to burn a time out because they only had 9 players on punt return; they got another delay of game penalty AFTER a change of possession, and played a few plays with only 10 players on offense. The MVL is at one of the lowest points in recent memory, and the Knights are most likely going to finish 3rd. The discipline issue is going to cost them against the better teams-just as it did against El Monte. The players being undisciplined is just a result of them doing what they are allowed to get away with-period! Sad state of affairs for a proud program!

Thanks for detailed update. That was confusing , but I guess Arcadia averted disaster vs Hoover. I guess CV is looking like formidable opponent in season ender of disappointing campaign.

Only Burroughs whose steady decline over the past few weeks has been forecast by this writer and others is more disappointing in Pacific League

Totally stalled out that drive, a very manageable 3rd and 1 turned into a 3rd and long due to the false start because the crowd noise was very distracting.

I’ve been announcing HS sports for 30+ years and haven’t announced a professional game score ever… but with tech advances in the past 40 years that wouldn’t be breaking news at a HS game. I have given scores of other games that could effect final league standings

And then the clueless band starts blowing horns while not paying attention to the flow of the game and I thought Medrano was trying to get everyone to shut up so the play could be heard.

Briones has been an announcer since the 60’s. You think he’d know to hold off on those kind of announcements until there’s a break in the action.

I understand El Rancho’s announcer is some kind of legend and kudo’s to him but……is he the announcer for the Dons or the Dodgers? His untimely announcement of the Dodger win caused the crowd to explode mid series and take away El Rancho momentum and a procedure penalty. In a game as tight as this momentum is everything. Congrats to SF. In the end ER could not stop SF’s big runner.

Do you know who they played ? There’s no solace in trouncing MV . Let’s see what happens next week ; you are looking at 3rd place in a depleted MVL and i don’t think most fans are satisfied with that .
Moreover , the top 3 are angling for playoff spots . This weeks winners probably at bottom of D13 , destined for early exit ,and losers at top of 14 where they could make a run

Eric Elias is not the answer, obviously. Was not impressed when he was my son’s frosh coach. However, he’s light years ahead of the current Arroyo staff which is abysmal. Arcadia did beat the formally mighty Knights at Arroyo this year.

Looks like there’s a new sheriff in town when it comes to finishing second in the Del Rio, and it’s Ryan Bateman’s Chiefs. The yellow and black accomplished their 21-14 victory with the help of two huge interceptions, proving that football is indeed a game of breaks and big plays. Best of luck to Bateman’s kids in the playoffs.
