Rams Notes: 1/31/25

Rams offensive line as of today
(Note: Pro Football Focus \rankings are to the right of each player. PB/Pass Blocking…RB/Rush Blocking…and overall ranking in the NFL by position.)

Offensive Line:
LT: Alaric Jackson—PB/81.7…RB/66—18/81
Note: Next to Matthew Stafford, Jackson is the key to the Rams offseason. A UDFA (Undrafted Free Agent) out of Iowa, he has become an above average starter the last two seasons. Retaining him, seems at minimum, likely to cost 15-20-Rocks per year.
The free agent market isn’t great, and the Rams track record of drafting left tackles in the first round since Orlando Pace is abysmal (See: Alex Barron, Jason Smith, Greg Robinson).

Joe Noteboom wasn’t even dressing during the playoffs.
A.J. Arcuri has proven to be little more than a Practice Squad guy.

LG: Steve Avila—PB/55.8.…RB/74.1—28/77
Note: Avila’s season was derailed by the knee injury. Came back strong down the stretch. He’s got the spot on lockdown.

Justin Dedich, a UDFA out of USC, was competent by midseason. His play made former third round pick Logan Bruss expendable.

C: Beau Limmer—PB/34.4…RB/63.8—35/40
Note: Limmer’s play was a surprise. Played especially well considering where he was drafted. The question is, with Jonah Jackson still on the roster, does Limmer’s ceiling go any higher or is he another Coleman Shelton? Not bad, but…are we really sure?

Dylan McMahon, a 6th round pick of Philly the Rams signed off the Eagles PS, McMahon is undersized and, at this point, does not seem to have a long term future.

RG: Kevin Dotson—PB/52…RB/72.3—9/77
Note: Dotson has been a revelation since the end of summer deal that brought him to the Rams in 2023. Locked up through 2026, he was banged up early and got better down the stretch in 2024. Road grader, he’s less than perfect in pass protection.

Jonah Jackson is the wildcard. Set to make serious dough in 2025, he couldn’t get on the field at the end of 2024. Injuries and, likely, a lack or reps contributed to his lost season. If he stays and plays in LA next season it will be as the center. Is he good enough to supplant Limmer…or is he an overpriced depth piece? As a depth piece, it seems a long shot for the Rams to keep him.

KT Leveston (LT in college) has size and enough potential that the Rams did not risk running the 7th round pick through waivers to put on the PS. Draft profile says he has the size to play tackle, but skill set makes him a guard in the NFL.

RT: Rob Havenstein PB/63.6…RB/75.5–25/81
Note: An absolute stud, and the glue of the offensive line, who is only noticed when he is not playing. Heading into his eleventh season and final year of his contract. His situation will become year to year.

Warren McLendon Jr. is what he is. He’s a right tackle, and it does not mean he’s the long term replacement for Havenstein when the time comes. He could be, but for now he’s a solid backup the Rams have two years of control over.

Others:
Tackle—Connor McDermott (spent season on IR)
