Gabrielino Girls Win First Ever CIF Basketball Championship

(Azusa) – Kimiko Nagata scored 15 points and Ava Yamashita added 11 to lead Gabrielino to a 38-23 win over Rosemead to win the CIF Division 5A Girls Basketball championship Friday at Felix Event Center.

For Gabrielino it was its first ever CIF championship in Girls basketball. Gabrielino jumped out to a 25-11 halftime lead and coasted in the second half to wrap up the title.

Sophia Cuevas had 10 of the 23 points for Rosemead.

    Congrats to Coach Jairo! Someone who was given a shot to coach after coaching AAU basketball for many years.
