(El Monte) – Mountain View retired the first two batters of the game. But an error on a ground ball to third by the next batter opened the door for three unearned runs in the first inning and Western Christian went on to beat the Vikings 12-4 Saturday at Mountain View High.

It was the theme for the game for the Vikings as they failed to make enough plays and Western Christian took advantage.

The Fighting Lancers jumped out to a 10-0 lead before Mt. View broke through with two runs in the bottom of the fourth.

In the first inning Reece Peters singled home Josh Turner who had reached on the two-out error and Uriah Potts doubled to drive in Peters and James Mack, who also reached on a Viking error.

After adding an unearned run in the second, Western Christian scored two more on the third inning. Peters tripled home Mack, who was aboard on an error and Peters then came home on a sacrifice fly by Potts.

The Fighting Lancers then broke it wide open in the fourth inning. Will Stradley, and Peters both had hits in the inning and both scored runs. There were also three more errors committed in the inning and for good measure Mack socked a solo home run over the left field fence. Just like that it was 10-0 Western Christian.

The Vikings got off the floor to get two in the fourth. Adrain Peralta walked, stole second and worked his way around to score on a base hit by Davila. Alex Moreno drew a walk, advanced on Peralta’s hit and scored on an error.

Western Christian plated two more in the seventh on a two-run triple by Owen Smith. Mt. View rounded out the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the seventh. Eder Sales and Julian Palama-Saracho both doubled in the inning and came around to score.

The Vikings used two pitchers on the day. Paul Martinez started and went the first three innings. Davila picked up in the fourth and went the rest of the way.

Dylan Martinez threw a complete game for Western Christian to get the victory.

Mt. View fell to 4-3 with the loss while Western Christian improved to 3-3.
