1—On this date in 2001: New England Patriots QB Drew Bledsoe is badly injured against the Jets; Tom Brady takes over and the dynasty begins. The hit was delivered by the New York Jets linebacker Mo Lewis. The blow sheared a blood vessel in Bledsoe’s chest and caused internal bleeding that nearly killed him.

2—In American League West the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros are tied for first place with identical 78-79 records.

3—Six of the NFL of the NFL’s 32 starting quarterbacks have suffered injuries forcing their teams to start back ups in 2026.

4—Reports now say the injury to Jaxson Dart’s knee is worse than first thought and could require season-ending surgery.
