USC Marks the Victory, 27-20
By Tim Peterson (Las Vegas) – Woody Marks crashed into the end zone from 13 yards out with eight seconds left to lift USC to a 27-20 win over LSU Saturday night in the Kickoff Classic before a capacity crowd of 63,969 at Allegiant Stadium.
St. Paul is Back; Beats Bishop Amat
By Tim Peterson (Santa Fe Springs) – St. Paul scored first and never relinquished the lead and went on to beat Bishop Amat 21-12 Friday night at The Pit at St. Paul.
Mid Valley Area High School Football Top 12
Damien jumped into the top spot with a win over La Serna while Downey moved up with a big victory over Sherman Oaks Notre Dame. Charter Oak routed Canyon to move up the ladder while Bishop Amat stood pat by beating West Covina. Here’s the Dirty Dozen heading into Week 1.

For Starters Don Lugo Wins in Overtime
By Tim Peterson (Whittier) – Brandon Elias scored on a two-yard run on the first possession in overtime to lift Don Lugo a 35-28 win over El Rancho Saturday night at Pioneer High School to kick off the 2024 season.
South Hills Runs Roughshod in Opener
By Tim Peterson (Baldwin Park) – South Hills racked up 372 yards on the ground and ran over Baldwin Park 52-29 Friday night on the Braves home field. The Huskies had two players with over 100 yards rushing and all seven of their touchdowns were on the ground.
