Lions Sleep Tonight, 42-8
By Rich Whittington (El Monte) – The visiting South El Monte Eagles spoiled the El Monte Lions homecoming celebration Friday evening, 42-8, in the 2023 installment of the annual Griffin Bowl, held in front of a very enthusiastic crowd at El Monte’s Lions’ Stadium.
Arcadia 59 Burbank 14-FINAL
(Arcadia) – Arcadia opened Pacific League play with a 59-14 rout of Burbank Friday night on the Apaches home field. With the win Arcadia improved to 4-2 with the victory while Burbank dropped to 2-4. Here are some shots from photographer Doug Brown.
Rosemead Rolls in MVL Shootout
By George Hernandez (El Monte) – Rosemead took a four-score lead, Mt. View rallied to get close but it wasn’t enough as the Panthers emerged with a 64-42 victory at Mt. View in the Mission Valley League opener.

Silva’s Second Half Leads Los Altos
By George Hernandez (Whittier) – Conquerors quarterback Andrew Silva’s strong second half led Los Altos to a 41-21 victory Friday night at California High School.
Upland Highlands Chargers
By Alex A. Gonzalez Covina — The Upland Highlanders scored on their first three possessions and added a pick-six, jumping to 28-0 lead Friday night against Charter Oak at Lou Farrar Stadium. Trent Dailey led the way by scoring two rushing touchdowns, helping his team cruise to a 31-10 win over the Chargers.
