Joe Torosian

Good Afternoon!

My NCAA bracket is still perfect…

You want to know the secret of my success?

It’s simple; don’t fill in your bracket until after the game is played.

Duh, winning!

***

Arcadia’s Taylor Lagace getting a D-1 offer may be the least suprising thing I’ve heard since I started covering football. Agree with another poster, I think his best position would be free safety. Congrats to him, his family, and the Apache program.

***

Note on Fouls: I agree there are some fouls that shouldn’t be called…but if some are committed with such stupidity they must be called on principle alone.

***

Do you think if I can convince you to look the other way I could carefully slip off the New York Knicks bandwagon?

***

Oh I have always been a Virginia Commonwealth fan!

***

When, now former, Mets southpaw Oliver Perez is owed 12 million dollars you know things have to be wrong financially in this country.

***

The first thing I noticed at the El Monte-Rosemead baseball game on Friday was the sound of the ball coming off the bat. With the move away from the composite bats, it will be interesting to see what happens to the numbers in local baseball.

No juiced players, no juiced bats, sounds like era of renaissance for the pitchers.

MVL Totals

Mission Valley League schools with former players in the big leagues:

El Monte: 5

Rosemead: 2

Mt. View: 2

Arroyo: 1

South El Monte: 0

Gabrielino: 0

Go Butler!

***

Last Add Fouls: I’m tired of seeing great players exit games because of foul trouble. We all no the bucks rule, no revelation there, so can’t the advertisers put some pressure on basketball at all levels to eliminate the foul out rule?

Five fouls and a bonus (3 free throws)…Not five fouls and disqualification…In fact not only will I give you five fouls and a bonus, but bring your dog around and I’ll give him a bonus too.

***

The first four-way toss is three weeks away.

***

Note to San Gabriel HC Jude Oliva: I got nothing but love for you, but an apology is in order.

***

What happened to that St. John’s run everybody was talking about?

***

The Ohio State basketball team needs to be investigated for illegal tattoos.

***

The number one name in girls softball is: Andy.

***

Northview’s Chris Auxier and Marquise Thomas will be playing on Saturday’s next fall. Lineman Auxier is going to Nebraska to play for Chadron State while running back Thomas will attend New Mexico Highlands.

Congrats to them and Vikings HC Marcel Perez.

***

Maranatha Fan: (concedes) “Yes, I believe the Olympic will be a four-way race in 2011. But we have the best quarterback.”

***

Last Add Northview: Did you know that Larry Wylie, a standout trenchman for the Vikings (1960-62) is alive and well serving as a minister in Bakersfield?

***

I was always a Duck Williams fan back in the day, so I actually feel a little partial to Notre Dame basketball…Especially when they lose.

***

Since everyone seems to have a bracket these days (Colin Cowherd has his Rock Band brackets, Max Kellerman has his Stars In Trouble brackets) I’m gonna create one of my own…I just don’t know what its going to be about…

***

Never met him in the flesh, but I think I would enjoy playing ball for Muir’s Gamal Smalley…

***

When I see the Jimmer play I think of “The Who”; How do you think he does it? I don’t know, what makes him so good!

***

Does anybody care about the NBA during March?

***

When you break the law, you break the law…I’m all for swift justice…but with all that’s going on is it really necessary to resurrect Barry Bonds and BALCO?

Stay thirsty my friends…
