Summer Mid Valley Old School Top 15

Steven Rivera, shown here in June Las Vegas Tournament at UNLV, has had a prolific summer

In late July is it too early for Top 10 or 20 lists? Probably, but most area schools are on dead period so we figured we would toss up an Old School Top 15 before everybody comes back. We’ve included Baldwin Park, Sierra Vista and Bosco Tech in our old school teams.

They weren’t part of our original teams, (we only had 12), but had we expanded they would have been the next three. So here you go.

1. Monrovia – Cats loaded for bear and the Rio Hondo.

2. Arcadia – Myles Carr and Taylor Lagace lead a high powered offense.

3. Arroyo – Was there a quarterback better than Steven Rivera this summer?

4. San Gabriel – Eric Alvarez or Andy Guerrero? It’s a nice problem to have.

5. Rosemead – Andrew Gibson, Matt Eddy- typical hard nosed Panthers.

6. Alhambra – Josh Mendoza? Yeah! But there is also a lot Moor.

7. Temple City – Chris Reed rocks, Michael Bassette bashes.

8. Baldwin Park – Eric Robles steps in for Mario Rodriguez behind center.

9. El Monte – Jesse Gayton (6’3”, 265) anchors a big front line.

10. Mt. View – Jose Zamora leads a bevy of backs for the Vikes.

11. Sierra Vista – RB Giovanni Rivera (2304 yards) is back. Anybody else?

12. Gabrielino – Not quite ready to break through in the MVL.

13. Bosco Tech – Returning QB Dillon Welsh threw for over 1100 yards last year.

14. South El Monte – Bright side – QB Henry Mascorro looks good in summer.

15. Duarte – Falcons still a year, or two, maybe three, away.
