Bulldogs Invade the Mid Valley Sports Show

(L-R) Coach Mike Maggiore, Justen Meaders, Chris Solomon and Jimmy Frazier talked about their second straight Southeast Division CIF Championship and all things West Covina Football

Tuesday night was West Covina Night at the Mid Valley Sports Show as Coach Mike Maggiore, and players Chris Solomon, Jimmy Frazier, and Justen Meaders all made an appearance.

The Bulldogs are just 11 days removed from their second consecutive CIF Southeast Division Championship, an 84-21 thumping of La Serna. This completed an incredible four game run in which West Covina outscored its four playoff opponents 240-75 and finished off a 13-1 season. WestCo’s only loss was to Loyola in week one.

We learned some interesting things from the Bulldogs Tuesday night. Maggiore said he wasn’t surprised that they didn’t get a state bowl bid.

“Our non league schedule wasn’t tough enough and we did lose to Loyola. If somebody (in the SGV) goes 14-0 some year I think they could get an invite.”

Frazier and Solomon, who both gained over 1000 yards, (Frazier 1600 plus, Solomon 1300 plus) are always competitive regardless of the situation.

“They were battling for shotgun (front seat) on the way over here,” Maggiore said.

Meaders is getting several looks particularly from PAC 12 schools. Although he played manly defensive end he is being recruited as an outside linebacker.

Frazier, who has heard from Stonybrook and Washington State among others, is being looked at as a slot receiver.

Solomon, who has been on the college radar since last year probably won’t reveal his choice until signing day. A force on both sides of the ball, Solomon is expected to play defensive back on the next level.

Arizona State and Colorado are just a couple of the schools that Solomon is considering.
