Minutemen Too Much For Olympians

(La Puente)- The Maranatha Minutemen scored first, last, and often as the beat the host Bassett Olympians on Friday evening at Bassett High School Stadium, 41-21.

The Minutemen dominated both the air and the ground, as they scored all 41 of their points in the first three quarters of play. Junior quarterback Eli Snyder completed 20 of 27 passes for 198 yards and four touchdowns, while senior running back Baile McDavid scored on touchdown runs of two and eight yards. Bassett quarterback Nicolas Colmenero was responsible for two scores of his own…scoring on a one yard TD run, and passing a touchdown pass to Senior Anthony Adcock.

*** Maranatha QB Snyder completed touchdown passes to four different receivers.

*** Maranatha’s quickest scoring drive was a 50 yard pass completion from Snyder to

McDavid, which took only: 03 off the game clock.

***Maranatha excelled on defense as well. Sophomore DB Marc Howard returned a

recovered fumble 45-yards to set up a Minuteman scoring opportunity.

*** Maranatha’s only offensive failure was a blocked extra point attempt in the second

quarter.

***The halftime score was Maranatha 28 Bassett 14.

***Bassett QB Nicolas Colmenero passed for 127 yards and rushed for 60 more, which led to a pair of Olympian scores.

***Bassett “Player #85” contributed on both sides of the ball, scoring on a 13-yard

touchdown run, and recovering a fumble to stop a Minuteman scoring drive.

***All of the games 62 points were scored in the first three quarters.

***Bassett’s next game, on 9/6/13, will be on the road vs. the Mountain View Vikings.
