(Alhambra) – The Apaches scored 16-points in 48-seconds late in the first half to pull away from the host Moors. Arcadia scored on the ground, air and defensively during the time span to easily dispatch Alhambra 38-6.
The 22-point outburst in the second quarter began innocently with Tealon Haggerty scoring from 15-yards out that gave the Apaches a nine-point lead. Haggerty added another at the 3:06 remaining mark as the flood-gates began to open. Arcadia then took advantage of premium field possession to extend the lead on Joey Harmon’s first touchdown pass in two seasons from 27-yards.
Harmon finished the night 16 of 23 for 196 yards and a touchdown and an interception.
The Moors only score came with 8:21 remaining in the game as James Giambalvo managed to slice his way through the Apaches defense.
– Harmon’s only miscue on the night was on interception in which he was pressured in the pocket and under threw his receiver.
– Jacob Holguin did yeoman’s work returning kick-offs for the Moors giving them prime field position in the first half.
– Michael Valenzuela’s opening rush of 39 yards was the only time the Moors crossed the 50-yard line in the first half. Valenzuela finished with 124 yards on the night.
– Haggerty, Nico Cantos, and Steven Luong rushed for a combined 169 yards with two touchdowns.
– The Apache defense accounted for a safety in the first half.
– After a series of bad snaps in the pistol, the Moors began the second half with Giambalvo taking snaps from under center.
