(La Canada)– Arroyo quarterback Nathan Coto totaled 198-yards and accounted for three touchdowns in the Knight’s 34-10 win over La Cañada Spartans Friday night at La Cañada High School.

It was homecoming for the Spartans and an upset win over the heavily favored Knights would make the night special. Arroyo, coming off a bye week, begged the question that  there might be some rust. The answer to that was yes. Besides a pick six from Jesus Calvillo, Arroyo’s offense could not move the ball in the first half.

LC tied the game after the interception on its ensuing series and took the lead after a Michael Selsor 32-yard field goal. Putting the score 10-7 before intermission. But Arroyo woke up with less than two minutes to play in the half and added seven points before the half. Coto connected with Nico Lozano for a 16-yard touchdown pass, retaking the lead 14-10.

After intermission, the Knights defense complemented their offense and shut down the Spartan rushing attack in the second half. The offense added three more scores to its lead to crush the Spartan’s homecoming festivities.
