Bucs Weather Storm, Hold Off Monsoons, 27-20

(Bellflower) The Bellflower Buccaneers held off a late scoring run and beat the Mayfair Monsoons 27-20 at Ron Yary Field on Friday evening in Suburban League play.

The Buccaneers, who took an early lead on a 4-yard touchdown run by senior running back Tyrus Douglas, led throughout the contest. Quarterback Sebastian Sanchez completed 13 passes for 209 yards and two touchdown passes. One to Andrew Gose (32 Yards), the other to Swain Williams (24 Yards). Bellflower added two Diego Sanchez field goals of 27 and 38 yards to complete its scoring.

Mayfair’s scoring was supplied by junior running back Querale Hall, who ran for a pair of scores and junior kicker Cannon Plooster, who kicked field goals of 28 and 33 yards.

replaced at the QB position: QB/WR Swain Williams.

***Mayfair was penalized 12 times for 70 Yards. This included four False Start calls on consecutive plays during the Monsoons first drive of the second half.

***Bellflower was flagged 5 times for 35 yards.

***Mayfair’s last opportunity to tie the game came with: 11 seconds remaining in the contest when they took possession at midfield, but two incomplete passes, a sack, and 2-yard run shut the contest down.

***Bellflower’s total yardage was 388.

***Mayfair’s total yardage was 428.
