(Rosemead)- The Rosemead Panther defense caused five turnovers to lead the way to a 35-14 victory over the visiting Temple City Rams Friday night at Marinelli Stadium.
*** Alec Zavala 49-yard run to paydirt gave Mead a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter.
*** The Rams Jimmy Morinaga’s 69-yard kick return for a touchdown tied up the game only 11-seconds after Zavala’s first score.
*** The Panthers defense caused fumbles on three straight Rams possessions turning them all into scores making it 28-7.
*** Mead linebacker Michael Sahagun had 10 solo tackles and two fumble recoveries. One he stripped away from TC runner and took it in for the score from 33-yards out.
*** Rams linebacker Nathan Ruiz was all over the field with multiple ackles and had two sacks.
*** Zavala had 94-yards and two scores for Rosemead.
*** TC quarterback Nassen Banihani had a late third quarter touchdown pass to Kyle Ford making it 35-14, but the Rams would get no closer.
***Mead HC Marc Paramo said after the game; “(Michael) Sahagun was incredible, we didn’t have a good practice Monday or Tuesday but our captains took over today.”
*** Temple City (1-4) goes home next week to face Monrovia (4-1).
***Rosemead (4-1) hosts Mountain View (3-2)
