4.) Former South El Monte quarterback Lee Aguirre turns 26 today

5.) The Atlanta Falcons, Super Bowl contenders coming into the 2013 season, fall to 2-9 after a 17-13 loss to the New Orleans Saints at home.

8.) Duarte last made the semifinals in 2006 when they defeated Santa Clara on the road, 41-38, in overtime. Falcon quarterback Austin Goldsmith threw four touchdown passes on just nine completions for 254 yards. Jermaine Thomas (3 catches 137yds) caught two of those scoring passes, Andrew Viotti (3/90) grabbed the other pair. Chris “Bad Man” Harris rushed for 189 yards.

Note: Shining for Santa Clara that night was sophomore running back Cierre Wood, who would later play for Notre Dame. He is currently on the New England Patriots practice squad.
