(Pasadena) – What started out like a dream for Bosco Tech turned into a nightmare just as quickly as they started their 2014 season with a 63-0 loss to Pasadena Poly.
It looked as though the Tigers were in prime position to shake off its 14-game losing streak as they recovered the Panthers miscue on the kickoff and were set up at the 20-yard line. Unfortunately for Bosco Tech quarterback David Fuentez threw a fade route that was intercepted by Dillon Hanel in the end zone. Hanel returned it to their 31 yard line.
One play later, Parker Matthews found Porter Vince for a 69-yard touchdown and the route was on.
By the time the dust settled in the first quarter, the Tigers were down 28-0 and looked in dire need of an offensive infusion that never transpired.
The only bright spot for Bosco Tech was Rey Castellanos who returned a kick-off 59 yards when the Tigers were down 35-0. But the drive stalled and the Tigers were back on the defensive.
The road doesn’t get easier for Bosco Tech who now must face Gabrielino on Friday night.
*** Matthews only threw three times all completions but amassed 165 yards and two touchdowns.
*** Vince finished the day with three touchdowns. Two on long receptions and another in the waning seconds of the game on an interception return. He also kicked all 9 PAT’s.
*** Poly’s Griffin Carter scored two rushing touchdowns from 4 and 67-yards out.
*** The Panthers face Keppel next Friday at Keppel.
*** The Tigers have lost 15 straight dating back to 2012.
