(Bellflower) – Tony Brown scored on a 71-yard pass and an 80-yard fumble return and Sei-J Lauago scored a pair of touchdowns to lead La Mirada to a 40-20 rout of Bellflower Friday night at Ron Yary Field.

With the Matadores already leading 27-7 early in the third quarter Bellflower Demetrius Reed was popped and the ball squirted loose at the La Mirada 20. Brown scooped it up and raced 80 yards for a touchdown and the rout was on. La Mirada tacked on another one when Niko Carrasco ran past the Buccaneer secondary on a 48 -yard  touchdown.

Brown hauled in a 71-yard pass from Christian Lara late in the first half to give the Mats the 27-7 halftime lead. La Mirada was never threatened in the game. Bellflower scored its first points late in the first half on a one-yard run by Marquise Lowe to cut the lead to 20-7 only to see the Matadores immediately respond 16 seconds later on the Lara- Brown connection.

***Brown finished with five catches for 111 yards and a touchdown to go along with the 80-yard scoop and score.

***Niko Carrasco, brother of former La Mirada running back Adam Carrasco, had eight carries for 145 yards and two touchdowns.

***Carrasco’s 26 yard dash came immediately after a Bellflower fumble in the first quarter and gave La Mirada a 13-0 lead.

***Lara completed 10 of 14 for 144 yards and a touchodown. He also threw an interception.

***Bellflower turned the ball over twice and they both led directly to La Mirada scores.

***Bellflower score twice late when Matadore HC Mike Moschetti cleared his bench. Wheeler Madison scored on a one-yard run and Devin Cooley caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Reed.

***Reed, who was the bulk of the offense for Bellflower, threw for 224 yards and a touchdown and ran for 64 more.

***Blocking up front for Bellflower: LT- Nick Danna, LG- Leon Singleton, C- Daid Esparza, RG-Jason Sitala, RG- Francisco Padilla.

***La Mirada improved to 5-1 (2-0 in Suburban League) while Bellflower fell to 5-1, 1-1.
